  • So unethical. I also wonder if insurance companies that pay out deposits for cancelled cruises are able to recoup the deposit from cruise companies if they resell? Surely they can't keep both deposits, thus making money out of cancellations that are resold?

You are of course assuming they resold the cabin at the same rate, you have no proof that they did.

That’s one of the reasons for the CMA statement. Companies should be reimbursing deposits in full, less their actual loss, but they’re simply not doing it.

They can include admin costs when calculating the loss, but frequently there is no loss. The difficulty might be in establishing that, so gather whateve evidence you can.

Since they have a long waiting list, it's completely reasonable to say that it was sold at the original price. If it wasn't, then it should have been as they should have mitigated any loss.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

They should be able to, whether they bother or not is another matter...
