Insurance on hire car

Hi,

My work have hired me a company car that is insured in the UK on the fleet insurance. I'm taking the car to france for a long weekend and have everything in place apart from insurance which won't be covered by the fleet insurance while in france. Nearly every quote I've looked at does not cover hire/rental cars or the few that do only offer third party.

There are lots of companies offering excess insurance for hire cars but I need full cover for a week in france. Has anyone experienced this before or does anyone know of insurers that covered hired vehicles?

Is it a HIRE car or a LEASE car. Big difference. Best thing you can do is to speak with an insurance broker. They should be able to sort it out for you.

Apolgies if this seems obvious, but I assume your employer has agreed to the car being taken outside the UK for personal use ?

Allainz offers rental car insurance, but I'm not sure whether it covers company cars. Anyways, you can always give them a call

If the car is provided to your company by a fleet car supplier and not owned by your company, there may be something in the supply agreement about cars being taken out of the UK.
