changing flight Mr. to Mrs

On 25th March I paid out over £2200 for 3 Thomas Cook flights to Cancun through Last minute.com. When checking flight details on the Thomas Cook site, I discovered my title was put down as MR instead of MRS. I contacted Thomas Cook who informed me that this was indeed a problem which needed to be corrected by LM contacting them. After many calls it transpired that, as it was a connecting flight, Thomas Cook could not, in fact, make the change. I was informed that now I had to cancel my flight and get a new one issued with the correct title. On Sunday, March 31st, I asked LM to do this.
Since then, despite many calls to both LM and Thomas Cook and being told on several occasions by LM, that I would receive an ‘email by the end of the day’- nothing has happened. LM have told me they have tried to contact Thomas Cook on numerous occasions but often can’t get through. I have asked Thomas Cook if they could contact LM on my behalf to get it sorted, but they say this can’t be done.
Thank you if you're still with me! I don’t know how to proceed from here. I have tried cancelling myself, but apparently my ticket won’t allow for this so it has to be done through LM. I need to get internal flights and accommodation booked for the trip, but I am reluctant to do anything until this is sorted. Any advice would be appreciated.

What is the name on your passport? Neither mine nor my husband has Mr or Mrs, just our names. If I had noticed a mistake like that I'd just have ignored it.
My other piece of advise is always book flight direct with company, never, never third parties. Too much hassle when things go wrong.

    It says 'female' on my
passport and then will say 'male' on the Thomas Cook ticket.
Certainly will never use LM again!

Self identify as male, sorry I couldn't help it!

Anyway I suspect it will be on the ticket/boarding pass, whereas all the gate checkers/immigration will be interested in is the name on your passport.

I have never seen a title on a passport before, is this a new thing now? I don't recall a ticket/boarding pass saying male/female either, probably banned now under GRA or whatever anyway.

I know you are probably panicking, and I don't blame you, but I would take a chance.

No, the passport doesn't have a title but it does indicate if you are male or female. I did say to TC that in these days of gender /transgender equality it shouldn't matter but they are saying it will. I wasn't worried before because I thought it would be a simple thing to change - am worried now though!

Oh dear, I can understand how you are feeling. I once had an airline ticket where my forename was spelled incorrectly, just by one letter so it did not match the passport accurately. I took a chance and there was no problem whatsoever. Admittedly it was a short flight to Europe.

You stand to lose a lot. Just wondered if you are near the aiport you will be departing from and just go to the airline desk and see. Might be easier and cheaper than cancelling and repaying. Just a thought, but it might not be feasible just the same.

I honestly think though that if your passport says female you will be OK. I am sure it has happened before now. Best of luck.

Thanks for your advice. It's two connecting flights, so not feasible to visit airport. I guess I'll just keep hounding them and hope someone will sort it out.
  • This happened to me last year. When I was adding the Additional Passenger information to our flight booking I must have accidently clicked on the 'Mr' button instead of the 'Ms'. I didn't notice it until I logged on to check us in.

I ignored it as my name was correct and was the same as on my passport. Nothing happened - no-one queried it at the airport. In fact, I'd forgotten all about it until I just read your post. I think Thomas Cook are over-reacting
  • i did this last week, tui holiday to cyprus. it was completely my fault did it when completing API. so I just ignored it. no one mentioned it. although boarding pass did say Mr lol

Ignore them, as long as your name is correct on the booking and the passport data entered when you check in, there will be no problem.
    Evolution, not revolution
