All funds have to start somewhere and the only difference about this one is the fanfare that accompanied it. Personally, I would never invest in a fund without looking under the bonnet and I won’t invest in this one until I can see what’s there. If I like the look of it, I will take a small position but not at the expense of my holdings in Fundsmith, LTGE and Blue Whale.
Well, I’m not sure Blue Whale needs exist much longer. The factsheet says it is “hand-picked by Peter Hargreaves [the Hargreaves of HL] to run a substantial portion of his family’s wealth”, so now he can close it and transfer his wealth to HL Global Growth. Also, he’d save 0.29% in fees (0.89% BW, 0.60% HL) and we know how good HL is at recognising how to generate value!

P.S. I’m not sure what ‘hand-picked’ means since he has appointed a lead fund manager. It sounds a bit like crisps which are ‘hand-cooked’ – I’ve never understood that either.

May be of interest to some, not a recommendation. Initial breakdown, 34 large cap companies. Nearly 3/4 invested in the US which is a lot for a single country but plenty of cash on the side
