Coil Pack on Corsa

Hi,
I bought my daughter a Corsa (2012) from a dealership 2 months ago. Within 6 weeks we had to get the brakes done (shoes, discs and pads).
Because of this I took it to a mechanic for a diagnostic to check the rest of the car. We have been told the Coil Pack has gone, its falling apart. He advised us to take the car back.
After contacting the dealership they have stated "this has just suddenly failed" and "would need replacing over the lifespan of the car" - the car has 38000 on the clock. He suggested taking back for a repair to be done, but I no longer trust them. Plus they are 30 miles away and I'm concerned about driving it all that way to get it fixed. Surely we shouldn't be experiencing problems with the car after only 2 months.
Is it normal for the coil pack to go after only 2 months?
Should the dealership take the car back?
Advice please

NO
however coil pack failure is quite normal on a SEVEN YEAR OLD CAR0 -
If the dealer have offered to repair it presumably it came with a warranty? If so I can't fathom why you wouldn't let them repair it.
Some dealers give you the option to exchange the car within a certain period if you're not happy, do you have that option?0 -
Having had to replace all the brakes (pads, discs and shoes) within the first 6 weeks and now another problem with the car already just makes me feel uneasy about keeping the car. It came with a 28 day warranty.
I thought buying from a dealer would make the car more reliable, only had it 2 months and its already costing money.0 -
This maybe better in the Motoring section?

The brake issues are general maintenance, that's not a fault with the car.
You didn't buy a new car, you purchased a 7 year old car. Nothing you've experienced so far is out of the ordinary for a car of that age. Buying from a dealer doesn't make an old car more reliable. Take advantage of the warranty while you've got it, if you're not happy then sell it on and buy something else.
I can't see that you've any grounds to reject the car at the moment.0 -
