Can I join in here please?
Once they are showing in Google photos and I can see them on my laptop in Google photos, can I then delete all the photos taken on my phone In the sure knowledge that that because these are the originals they won’t then be lost. Originals deleted are actually in google cloud regardless?
Many thanks.0 -
Yes, Google photos app. Pics are uploaded automatically to the cloud and you can delete them from your handset (done from within the app).
The storage is free for up to 50,000 photos if you store them at 16Mp, which is fine as long as you don't want to print sizes over 24" x 16".
If you have an Android phone the app will be on there already.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

Thanks for the above,
If I want to show someone a photo but don’t have an internet connection, where are the photos located which were actually taken by the phone. I use a Motorola G and also an ipad so have all the same photos saved on both google cloud and icloud. You can tell I’m a belt and braces sort!
Is there a location on the phone where photos actually takenwith the phone are stored that doesn’t need an internet connection to access.
Hope I’m making sense and not hijacking the op thread too much, they might find my questions relevant to themselves.
Thanks0 -

Google Photos/Drive and Dropbox are what I use to save space.0

Do you have a PC, laptop, or Mac?
Connect the phone to it and copy the photos to a backup folder on it.
Consider making a copy on a portable device (USB stick, memory card, portable hard drive)0 -
Does your phone have a slot for a MicroSD card? If yes, fit one and set that as the default location for photos. (And Music etc.)0

Thanks for the recent advice. I don’t think Motorola G has a second so card slot. I do have an Apple laptop and so save to iCloud on that. Google photos will work with an Android phone I think. I have deleted a few things that are taking space but Photos are taking the most room. My phone now shows that my trash basket is full so I’m trying to find out how to empty it to enable me to delete more stuff.
Phew... it’s keeping the old grey cells working overtime!0
