Water meter/ 2 person tariff

I am new to the forum and wanted to share my recent experience.
Spurred on by the advice to investigate a water meter, I found that my bill should reduce by several hundred pounds..
I arranged for installation but was told that due to the location of the stopcock, it wasn't possible. The engineer said that in the light of this he would arrange for me to go on a 2 person tariff which would reduce my bills.
This is the first that I have heard of such a thing and why wasn't I offered this in any case?
I am still waiting for the promised correspondence but in the meantime, does anyone have either experience or any thoughts please.

You have to apply for a meter before you can get an assessed tariff.


For most people an as assessed tariff is a 'no brainer'.
