I use this company all the time.I find the drivers most friendly and helpful and the meals, although not as cheap as supermarkent, meals are both tasty and easy to prepare. I live in a very rural area and the service is excellent. I have a hot meal that is both nourishing and easy as well as tasting great every day. I can heartily recommend Oakhouse foods.

As taste is a personal thing why not get a small delivery from both?

Wiltshire Farm and Oakhouse foods deliver in my area (Somerset). I have frequent contact with people who have them delivered and are happy with them.

I know Oakhouse do the 'mini-meals' which many people prefer - and I think Wiltshire FF are now also doing ones for the smaller appetite.

The drivers will even put the foods straight into the freezer if required.

As previously suggested, remember the supermarkets that also do home deliveries - no reason why your friend can't have use a combination!

    Happy experimenting!!

  • Yes, I have and do sometimes use Wilshire Farm Foods with equal results, good tasty food . I do like the Mini meals that Oakhouse foods make. I am 18 miles from a real shopping area and 11 miles from any shops so to have deliveries of good food is great. I live in Cumbria .

My neighbour has Wiltshire Farm Foods delivered. She's 92 years young and they seem to be keeping her hale and hearty !
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
  • We gave up on wiltshire farm foods. Between the order and delivery they changed their prices so you never knew what to pay until they arrived. Trading standards were helpful with this but we never got the refund for their overcharging us, four times in six months.

Oak house foods are increasingly unreliable. They have been late with deliveries in the past and the delivery my mother was expecting yesterday morning by ten o'clock still hasnt arrived. No reasons can be found but their wrexham branch phoned me at 10.20 this morning to say the delivery would be there in the hour. Over two hours later and it still hasnt arrived. They sell mainly to elderly and vulnerable people. this leaves my mother anxious and me furious.

I am speaking with trading standards about oakhouse foods as in the past the concern trading standards had was with the issue of failing to deliver to vulnerable people on time as well as the price changes which were not notifed before delivery.

I think care is needed. Our experiences were with Wiltshire Farm foods at Shotton and Oak House Foods wrexham. Oak House have worked hard to sort out the problems but they shouldnt have happened.

    We tried this: https://www.lookwhatwefound.co.uk

These don't need freezing, just need microwaving but they DO need some green veg with them (mostly).

We tried this not because we can't cook or are vulnerable, but just because we liked the look of it.

A lady who used to live near us used to have Wiltshire Farm Foods delivered every Friday. Don't know what she thought of them and she isn't here now.

How do they store please if not frozen?

I'm an ex sheltered housing warden. Amongst my tenants there was some confusion about Oakhouse and Wiltshire. One claimed she had been told over the phone they were the same company. When I phoned to check, they denied it.
Most of our tenants used Wiltshire. There were no complaints.
The quality of both seemed fine - but do check out the prices of ready meals from supermarkets - many of which deliver.

The Look What We Found meals can be bought in our local (admittedly enormous) Sainsburys.

They are in squishy packets that can be stored in a cupboard. Have tried a couple - the meatballs were very garlicky (my DD didn't complain though), the rest were pretty nice.
I like them because we have to be very careful what we give to DS (due to behaviour problems linked to certain foods) and these often only contain things you'd find in your own kitchen so are great for a really quick meal every now and then.
