You can not prevent Google from using your personal information to send you targeted advertising des

  • That's really my point. Google give you the option to turn off personalized advertising but it's only lip service because the law (in the shape of data protection) has told them it has to happen, but in reality Google advertising is still targeted and based on your personal information which means they are acting totally illegally. I'm just wondering how long it will take for someone to put them in court over it
    As above re. AdBlockers.

That said, unless I'm missing something if you select 'no personalisation' what difference does it actually make? Surely the adverts are still selected from Googles collection but just based on your browsing & shopping preferences?

I get lots of adverts. I've no idea whether they are targeted or not because I don't look at them.

so a section of screen may, or may not, be taken up with an advert.

How does that affect my life?
  • Don’t search with Google, as others said use Duck Dock Go. With DD Go, you get better results than Google, which pushes sponsors search results at you. Use cookie control settings in your browser and an ad blocker. Problem solved.
  • If you have a chrome-based browser you can also use Stylebot to chop out those insulting 'sponsored content' panels that masquerade as news.
