No sorry, you are looking where I meant.
I think you're going to have to phone them.

    Car Insurance Carver!
Applied on the 14th online, had a 'what happens next' email back the next day, Proof of Identity forms arrived 17th and I returned them today.

Seems like cahoot have caught up with whatever backlog was being experienced previously ;D

For those of you who are worried about giving your data away you can make use the data protection act for your own good (after all, companies use it to be awkward all the time, e.g. "We can't discuss this over email" when you try and complain to a certain very expensive cable company >:(). The data protection act allows you to ask a company for a copy of all information they hold about you (for which they can make a small charge). Also, you can ask them to delete all information held about you, supposing they don't need it, e.g. you have a current bank account with them. They are obliged by law to carry out your request in a reasonable time. So even if you have given them your info you can ask them to delete it all!

Also, interestingly, the data protection act states that all information must be current (up to date, as far as is reasonable), not kept for longer than necessary (difficult to quantify), and relevant. However, thinking about the intrusive questioning mentioned, Cahoot may be able to argue that any and all financial information is relevant to them. Also, they are not allowed to pass your data onto anyone else without your consent (except the police, etc), so make sure you tick/don't tick the correct boxes on the application forms that may indicate your consent. I thought I’d pass on this information as not many people outside of IT departments are fully aware of the data protection act.

When I opened my First Direct account I used the MSE link, aren't I good? Then I realised that I could have gone via Greasypalm and earned £6.25 :-/

I know this is a mercenary question, but are there any cashback sites that link to Cahoot? Ta :)

Derbyshire Regular Saver - I looked at this but no good for me as i am not a regular saver.
so guess the new cahoot would be best for me. I am a non tax payer, so is this savings account set up a different ball game for anyone who doesnt pay tax, or do i have to sign a declaration or anything?

I am not talking huge or regular savings, but being on a fairly low income means Ineed the best interests rates I can get. thanks for any advice

    GIRLIEWIND,

To register for gross interest you will need to fill in an IR85 form. During the Cahoot account online application there is a stage where it asks whether you would like to register for gross interest. If you tick this box then they will send you an IR85 form along with the other forms.

Alternatively, you can download and print off a form from: http://www.inlandrevenue.gov.uk/forms/r85.pdf. You will need to send the completed IR85 form back to Cahoot.
    Please call me 'Kazza'.

Intrusive questions?  Maybe I filled in the wrong form!  Lots of questions for security, all the obvious ones about name, address etc and bank details for a DD.  About the only not exactly vital info was my job/income, and for the record I really don't give a monkeys if the whole world knows I'm a housewife on a small income.  I obviously lack the paranoia gene. ::)

My current account is with Barclays who theoretically know a shitload about my life, including how much I spend in Kinky Rubber Knickers 'R' Us*.  The few minor details I gave Cahoot are a drop in the ocean compared to the dirt Barclays could dish  ;)

Took three attempts to get past the Red Page of D00M and complete the application.  I hope this isn't indicative of their usual level of service  :-/

I applied on 25th of last month and the account has still not been set up.
Even when it finally is,it`ll still take another 10 days to set up the DD to get any money moved in.

after hearing all the horror stories, I decided to give cahoot a try to open an account. To my surprise, within I guess 10 days, everything is up and running !! though not too sure about the direct debit.
