Hello there, I am a single person living alone, I get PIP standard daily rate & ESA support component with SDP for my anxiety/depression/BPD. I have just moved into a new HA property two weeks ago & rang the DWP with my support worker to update my address. we asked the man over the phone for 1. my esa entitlement letter and 2. My PIP award letter and the day I started getting paid PIP. I had a review form that I filled out mid 2017 & got back a letter saying I am entitled to get PIP til JULY 2021. So far ive had no issues, UNTIL TODAY I OPENED MY POST AND IT WAS A BRAND NEW PIP 1007 CLAIM FORM? WAS THIS A MISTAKE? PLEASE TELL ME THIS WAS A MISTAKE? I AM HAVING A TOTAL PANIC AND MELTDOWN & WILL BE UNABLE TO SLEEP OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS. CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF THIS HAS HAPPENED TO THEM OR SOMEONE THEY KNOW? I ASKED FOR AN ENTITLEMENT LETTER NOT A NEW CLAIM FORM

i cant stop crying & panicking

The only people that can accurately answer this is the DWP. You need to contact them on Monday morning and ask why it was issued and whether you have to return it.

It's possible it was just a misunderstanding.

There isn't much out there about this kind of thing happening but this is one of the few that seemed similar, it ended with the same advice, contact the people that issued the form: https://www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/forum?view=topic&catid=10&id=111667

Do as sportsarb says. If you don't get a satisfactory answer, ask your Support Worker to make another call before Friday of next week.

If the wrong form has been sent, I would also consider asking your Support Worker to help you write a letter of complaint to the DWP. Any such letter should explain the deep distress that the error caused you, and it should ask for this to be passed to the employee who made the error so that they can understand the effect of even a simple mistake and why accuracy is so valuable in benefits administration work.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.
  • i will do just that. however imagine they have just terminated my award because the idiot over the phone sent out the wrong letter :(

they cant just do thar can they? not without a review? praying to God that it was a mistake because this could affect my other benefits. worried sick (literally)

Your award will not be terminated just because a form has been issued. However it is essential you get this clarified as soon as possible. If an error has been made (which seems likely) you need the DWP to confirm this and to confirm that you can ignore the form - if possible ask them to confirm that in writing. If you don't do this DWP will have a note on the system that they are expecting you to complete and return the form and if you fail to do that your existing award will be stopped.

When you reported the change of address did you or your support worker say anything which might have led the DWP to believe that your health condition has changed?

  • hello calcotti sorry not sure how to quote your response

we reported nothing else other than a change of address, quite clearly. i told the idiot over the phone to update my address, send out a letter that breaks down my entitlement, the day i started getting paid PIP and that was it! if they beieved it was a change in circumstance why didnt they send me a review form? which btw isnt due til 2020 for me. and if they terminatwd my claim due to change in circumstance why have they sent me a fresh claim form :( i have called into my support workers office and they have said it is 100% a mistake on their behalf. but I dont like not knowing exactly what on earth theyve done to my claim.

Sorry Anonymousey, I was thinking they'd sent you a PIP2 review form. Entirely my mistake, your opening post is clear that it's a claim form, - I don't think I've ever actually seen one of these! It's obviously a mistake but you do need to speak to DWP to get them to confirm this. I don't think you can make a new claim for PIP when you are already in receipt of it (not that anyone would want to).

  • i have completed the review form before and this form even says "thank you for requesting a pip claim form". honestly when i read that i was eager to put my head through a wall at the sheer incompetence
