House prices 'face 2008 slowdown' -Nationwide (BBC)

A couple of months ago people were on this forum saying it's never going to happen. I believe they are now in the camp of well they may come down a bit but not much. But I think we will all tread a rocky road in the near future. I just arranged a remortgage for a mate of mine with free val and solicitors cost , rate was 5.35% but they charged £1500.00 arrangement fee. I mean 1500 quid just to swap rates and this was a better deal than his lender could offer.0

There is a dedicated house price crash discussion thread, where you can wheel out the same arguments you have all been peddling for years. I suggest you use that, and leave the rest of us in this forum in peace.0

I know quite a few young teachers and a couple of doctors (would like to get to know a few more nurses though
) who have managed to buy property and still have a good amount of money after their outgoings to enjoy life.
By your standards does this mean the country is not in a mess?:wall:
What we've got here is....... failure to communicate.

wages decline in real terms as inflation and a weakening of the pound that will follow will push up energy and import prices, whilst doing comparatively little for manufacturing (as there is very little left).
The first one is already happening. Nothing to do with a recession, but everything to do with globalisation.
The second will be a consequence of trying to rescue an overvalued housing market.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
