I fitted a s/h turbo on 180k miles and it's been fine since, car now on 273k miles.
To me, it sounds like the original turbo failed (maybe because of oil starvation) - but i'm not surprised that a warranty company didn't cover it, as they are often scared of higher mileage cars.
I'd carefully read the T&Cs of the policy to see if it was mis-sold for this car.0 -

OP has said that the turbo has damaged the engine. If the turbine has failed, bits can either go into the engine or exhaust, one been more catastrophic than the other.0 -
Take it back to the dealer, start the rejection process.
Your better off buying a cheaper car with less miles on it in the meantime.0 -

LOL. That's just salesman talk. Didn't you wonder how they might know how all of those 169,000 miles had been accumulated? Of course they couldn't know. It might have been a taxi or hire car for all they knew. Next time if you are not sure, trust your own feelings.0 -

Not only is there no way could they have known that but how many times has that claim been made for a high mileage car? You really shouldn't be falling for that old chestnut OP.0
