I know this is incredibly trivial, but how does one get a rebate for less than £1 when one's taxable income is well below the personal allowances so adjusting the tax code won't get it back.
My partner is owed 75p, yes that's right just 75p, from last year's self assessment. This relates to the Halifax current account reward which they tax at source.
HMRC have told her she doesn't need to do another self assessment as her savings income is now below the threshold for SA. Therefore, it's not an option to wait for next year's return and hope the amount owed goes above £1. It's also extremely unlikely her taxable income will incur a tax liability for at least 5 years, at which time she starts to receive her occupational pension.
When I request the payment online it only lets me do it for amounts above £1. I don't want to put in £1 in case the computer says she now them 25p. I know this shouldn't be the case as tax owed is usually rounded down to the nearest £ when the SA computation is done, but I'm no sure what would happen in this case.
Posting here as I don't want to spend my life on the phone to HMRC for just 75p.0 -

Personally I would get in touch via webchat and ask for it to be refunded.0 -
