I done everything correctly and on the phone they said that I had earned more than I had put down even though i had all my wage slips in front of me when doing it with it all added up correctly beforehand, also I had paid my national Insurance but apparently I have to pay class 4 NI now which I didn’t know about and they said that’s where the £700 has gone. But when you’re 19 it’s pretty hard to do when you don’t really understand it

Class 4 Self-employed people earning profits over £8,632 a year

You pay class 4 in addition to the class 2 contributions.

If your net profit for 2017/18 was more than £8164 think yourself lucky that it has not been picked up.
