  • Have you checked that you haven't made any careless mistakes when completing your return?

On one of the other similar threads in previous years a few people mentioned they had messed up with national insurance and their refunds got cancelled i think and they eventually got smaller refunds after the national insurance was added in to their bills.

My claim originally was for something like 3.5 and then they took the national Insurance out of it and it went down to 3.3 something which is still pending. I had someone do it for me but I can’t say for sure if there is any mistakes. To be perfectly honest I find it all so confusing
  • That sounds like class 2, a fixed amount about £150 but what about class 4? That's based on the profit your business makes.

I’m not sure is there a way that I can review everything that was filed in my return I have fall access to my hmrc account just don’t rely know what I’m looking at other than a overview print off of it which dosent say anything about class 4?
  • You should be able to look at the tax calculation for the year - if you can provide details of that it might flag up any obvious problems.

I’m looking through it now and nothing that I can see is standing out but as I say I don’t really know what I’m looking at 😂 appreciate your help though, I think I’m just going to have to sit and ride it out a prey everything is ok
  • Was your profit more than £9k?

    Yes it was 26k
  • Well your calculation should be showing about £1.5k class 4 national insurance. Is that not included?

If not i doubt HMRC will be refunding you anything any time soon.
