Sorry - I didn't mean "how do you apply them" - I meant "how do they work" - I mean, when you wax a car, it takes elbow grease to get the wax applied deeply to the bodywork - not just a gentle coat sprayed on and rinsed off !

Right - so the Swarfega for example is NOT a pressure washer additive - just apply it and pressure wash it off afterwards ?

Just pressure wash it, and see what it looks like, before you go around spending money on probably unnecessary products.

If you then need to do any spot-cleaning, do that.

No its not bad - just a bit dirty from 20 years of nothing more than sweeping - just mildewey !!
I think that the water pressure alone will improve it dramatically - and will clear out moss from the joints
I've never needed to use a cleaning fluid for patios, the pressure washer should be enough, although I find that patio cleaner to be a bit rubbish, the tornado nozzle is much better at shifting the dirt.

    I use this https://www.hygienesuppliesdirect.com/products/prod229020-5-litres-simply-spray-concentrate?gclid=Cj0KCQjwhuvlBRCeARIsAM720Hq-i8kBDgiuO3r-4D2BEDwgplCvvzOMtzlLOXqWiWHWFpcjbi5VuxkaAvWbEALw_wcB
Spray on with a cheap pump spray then leave. Any really stubborn bits can be done later with the pressure washer

I found that going in straight with the pressure washer takes ages and gives an inconsistent finish

The spray on type waxes will offer some extra addition between washes, a paste wax can last many weeks per application.
Paste wax is more durable but takes time to apply.
