Is this too good to be true? Probably is!
Earlier today I received a call saying that it was time for my upgraded phone (I'm on Orange, but not the bill payer). They're going to send me an all singing all dancing MP3 playing, video playing Sony Ericson that has only been out for 3 weeks free of charge.
My sim card will still fit the phone, apparently (currently a Nokia 3330). I will not pay a penny for this phone at any stage. My tariff will remain the same.
Obviously, I'll believe it when I see it, but will it really happen? Has anyone else had this? What is the catch?

For one thing they shouldn't have spoken to you about this if the phone isn't in your name so that doesn't bode well for the offer.
1 catch about these sort of things is that you're tied into a fresh 12 month period before you can cancel.0 -
Thanks pinkonion. 12 month period isn't too bad - especially as I'm not the bill payer.
We'll see what happens, but surely you don't get something for nothing nowadays!Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
Someone1 is still paying though Vicky?!?!?!?
Your not really getting in for nothing at all. If you don't upgrade or take out a new contract every 12 months you are just throwing away around £200 a year as you always get a phone with every contract0 -

True. It's the company though, so they've got an on going deal with Orange. Not up to me to determine the tariff. Woe betide the day when I'll have to pay it myself, but I won't be able to get company rates then.Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -

Who called you? Was it direct from Orange or some random cold caller? A lot of the cold callers require you to start a new contract with them therefore you will receive a new sim card with a new number. The only way that you will be able to keep your number is by porting the number out (eg to Virgin mobile) then porting it back in. This takes a minimum of 30 days I think (don't quote me on that)0 -

Supposedly direct from Orange. I'm waiting with bated breath for my phone to arrive now. Spoke to another friend today and this happened to her and she's got a great phone (well, it works and she can speak to people).Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0
