i have been getting nowhere with CRA and the council. Both refusing to budge. I did already contact the ICO today via email so waiting for a response. I believe getting to amend the electoral roll is different then a normal correction as i have been pointed out many times by the council and CRA. Why was your name spelt incorrectly, was that just an error on the CRA report

Because it has absolutely no impact on you.

Yes, an absolutely pointless waste of time and effort trying to get this changed. Frankly no potential lender is going to give a monkey's how someone's first name was spelt on the electoral roll almost 20 years ago.

pointless comment from you. Might not be urgent for you but for me it is very urgent
Can you say why it is urgent now that data from 20 years ago be corrected when it wasn't urgent for the last 20 years?
What impact do you think a misspelling of your name on your ER from 20 years ago will have now

For credit the fact that you are n the ER at your current property for 20 years with correct spelling will be enough. There will be ero impact of any time before this on the ER whether you weren't registered, or registered at multiple properties with multiple spellings.

Single character misspellings occur all the time, especially from when you used to send registrations forms in, could have been a misread of your writing or a mistranscribe when digitising it. Still happens a lot now, especially with things like mobiles and catalogues where things are taken out over the phone.

I would expect a paper form, handwriting and someone retyping it to be the main culprit.

I'd have thought they would have sent out a form with everyone's names printed a year later, so they might question why it was ignored for so long.
