Giving up/ Cutting Down Alcohol Thread Part 16

Thank you for the kind words , I was a little upset by the slightly negative reaction by a poster who doesn’t ‘know’ me !
I am after all only human , saying what I found the meeting to be ( without being disloyal to AA and being a big mouth) I’ve said it’s not for me , but some people just won’t let it lay !
Keep posting here. We're all here for you, if you want AA it's there for you and if you don't, just avoid it.
The one thing none of us needs is someone telling us we've got problems! It's personal, intrusive and rude. My relationship with alcohol had absolutely nothing to do with needing 'healing' by third parties, and I doubt yours does either.
Hang on in there!
31/31 please, Shaggy.Better is good enough.0 -

Thank you Cathybird for keeping score for us. Not going to change my target and I know 200 is unrealistic but I want to see how close I can get to that number
.

marahouti, 200 isn't unrealistic for you at all, you need 21 for November and again for December. It's completely doable.0

Good afternoon everyone,

It has been an exceptionally hard month with ongoing treatment and the loss of our lovely dog. I can't wait for a new month to start. Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and kind words over the last six months.

Brilliant news Arkers. Delighted for you.:THoney_Bear wrote: »Love a Sale, I saw those comments and read each of them several times. I think they were meant as helpful, but like you I saw something really quite negative in them and that was why I posted in the way I did
It took me back to some of the posters from way back when I joined the thread (one of whom I still have on ignore). There's something about some people who give up that they're convinced that everyone who has an issue with alcohol is an addict and aren't satisfied until they can force you to admit it. If you won't then your problem is denial (insert rolls eyes smiley). I joined the thread to cut down because I knew that I'd got into a lifestyle of drinking too often. I enjoyed it but it was expensive, calorie laden (especially the crisps and cheese that often went with it:o) and bad for my health. So I cut down, that's all I've ever wanted to do. That doesn't mean I don't respect and admire those who choose to give up. Th thread is a much more tolerant place now. :A
No drinking today. Calling October on 17/10 AFDs please Shaggy and thanks for all your help.:T0 -
That's great news Arkers - you have been through the mill, that's for sure - here's hoping November and December are much kinder and more fun!
xx

Well I'm not going to make my annual target but I guess I knew that following poor scores in August and October. Thank you Cathybird for keeping the total, much appreciated.
I'd like to try for 20 for November please. Need to get back on the wagon both food and alcohol wise. I haven't drank to excess recently but every night is creeping back and that's got to be unhealthy.0 -
That’s exactly it mamam , I just felt my drinking is a bit too easy ,, and I was intrigued about AA ,,, nothing more , nothing less,
I love my kids , enjoy my job ,,,, does that make me a mad addict ?
No !
Thank you all , I hope we hear no more from the real person with a problem !
Thanks shaggy and Cathy for scores x:money: I will never be rich but I'm happy :rotfl:0
