Their roots go really deep and snap off 🙄
Here is a photo - can someone confirm that they are actually bluebells?!

I'm not so sure they are bluebells. They could be grape hyacinths/muscari?

I thought they were bluebells and really there were not so many flowers as there was just greenery. We really didn't like them so have dug them out in clumps. A charity garden didn't want them either. We can only hope that we have got rid of most. We have put grass seed down so the heads will be getting cut off if they come through in the future :rotfl::rotfl:

    Nope.

Farway knows what blubells look like. They haven't opened fully yet, so we can't tell which sort they are.

Definitely bluebells. I'm inclined towards saying they're spanish, as they have wide leaves, and my native ones have narrower leaves than the spanish ones (which I'm trying to eliminate so they don't contaminate the natives). They also look as if the flowers will be all round the stem. But then again, it's too early to tell really :)

Also, there's the fact that they're so difficult to kill... natives seem to be a lot less tough.

If they are natives, I hope the OP will post them to me...

Wild English bluebells are protected as are other wild flowers .

Ones grown on your land are not.

If native, then learn to love them. I can't get them to grow, so you're very lucky.

If spanish, I've tried everything. I just keep digging them up every year and gradually there are fewer of them.

Thanks for this. I’d assumed my bluebells were Spanish but turns out they’re native.:)

We've got loads in our garden, I think they must be the Spanish ones but I still love them.

Same here - in our wooded areas and elsewhere :o

I believe ours were planted when our land formed part of the gardens of the large and historic (now Grade 2*) estate we adjoin.

Considering our garden/land has recently been included in the Statutory Register of Historic Parks and Gardens in Wales and given a Grade 2 rating, there is very little planting (or other features - except ancient stone walls and what DH believes is a leat) of merit, so for now we're inclined to keep what little we do have ;)

I'd love to replace ours with native English bluebells - although not sure if that would be correct, this being Wales? - but for now I'm happy for any colour as a succession of previous owners weren't gardeners and I'm trying to fill vast spaces in the best way I can!

We have them round the bases of the trees in the garden and various other odd locations but I love them as well. they make the end of my garden look like a woodland. They do subdivide and spread but it takes a few years and you can dig them out if you don't like them.
