I too had my Amazon, eBay and Microsoft account hacked. I suspect t in my case the connection was a common password.
No harm was done on amazon (no transactions) but ebay hacking resulted in my account being used to trade software in Morocco. I couldn't see how it was being used since I had cancelled my PayPal years ago and you can't trade on eBay without one. But no explanation was given by them and the items up for trade were cancelled and again no harm done. I have since cancelled the accounts with eBay and Amazon and will perhaps return in time.
As for the Microsoft account. Even when I had changed the password, there were attempted logins from 3 different countries and I still fail to see what is gained from hacking Microsoft accounts. But again I am not out of pocket and still have the account.
It's important to realise that those accounts were not hacked. Hacking is when a breach is found in the actual website that a hacker uses to access thousands of accounts.
In your case you have accidentally given out your password or have spyware on a device you used to access this accounts. Once they have your password they then used it to access the account without any hacking involved.
So now you need to be more vigilant when typing in your password making sure its a genuine website, ensure you up to take and decent anti-virus on your devices and activate 2 Factor Authentication where available.0 -
Hi, early in June my Amazon account was hacked. They'd bought £100 of Xbox vouchers and my bank card was immediately debited. I've now rang amazon at least 11 times reporting the fraud and got nowhere - no further forward now than when it happened in June. I get an automated genetic email everytime saying it will take 2 days to sort and to change password etc. Am now at the end of my tether with them and cant speak to anyone in the uk, I know 100 quid isn't a huge amount but it is to me. Can anyone advise what I could do next please? Thanks0
