  • They said they will refund me when l send the item back, even though I've taken all the advice on here they have still sent me emails trying to get me to put a false code in a for amazon and another one for Facebook but the PayPal and ebay ones have stopped, so did you manage to sort yours out?

    Thing is amazon have advised me to go to the police about it, but will they just think lm wasting their time, lm expecting it to my bank account next.


    1) call up all banks/providers/companies and let them know so they can freeze / reverse anything else
    2) Only use credit cards online, we use AmEx exclusively online just because their customer service is second to none we have found over the years
    3) Use different passwords for each account you own - I know it's a pain, you can use stuff like LastPass which is software that creates a password on your behalf so you do not ever need to type yourself.
    4) Change passwords on a regular basis - again, very painful but has to be done.
    5) Use 2-factor authentication - google it, it's a must - save your backup keys in a safe place.

    No, im just going round in circles; amazon say contact bank for forms for refund and have reset my account deleting the order that was made, bank wont do anything because i have the item that was ordered fraudulently and just says contact amazon. So looks like I'll be loosing money.

    There is a reason they hack your account and ship an item to you.

    Its easier to get more info that way.

  • My Amazon account was hacked last week immediately following my application for an Amazon Platinum Card.
    I discovered this when I tried to log on but my password failed and the reset request failed. When I contacted Customer Services they sent me several One Time Passwords (OTP) but they didn’t come through my registered email address. Clearly the hacker had diverted emails from Amazon to him/her/they.
    The hacker had order goods on my Gift Card and over £600 worth of goods to be sent to a local Premier Inn locker and one item to my own address.
    Amazon cancelled the orders, but I then had to contact the card company to tell them what had happened and immediately cancelled my registered credit card because I couldn’t access my account to remove the card details.
    Customer Services have been next to useless. There is no two way communication at all.
    I was advised to email Jeff Bezos, Amazon’s CEO and the following day I received a telephone call from someone (Joseph Casey) who said he was responding to that email and that he would reset my account to a different email address.
    The following day I completed the account details. Within 90 mins I received emails from Amazon to say that there was unauthorised activity on that account and that certain functions were suspended. One hour later, when I tried to log on it said the account didn’t exist. When I contacted Amazon they said there was no record of that account.
    I forwarded the confirmation email from Joseph Conrad to stop-spoofing@amazon.com their reply said that his email wasn’t from Amazon.
    I’ve since reported it to the police and Action Fraud. I’ve changed my passwords on everything, absolutely everything and created new email addresses to replace the hacked one.
    I now don’t trust any email from Amazon and I’m loath to set up a new account.

    Maybe the issue is with your pc.
  • I guess at this point I was just sharing my experience.
    Mainly I can’t understand how a response to my email the Amazon CEO could have come from a fake.
    My card application and all transactions were with my iPad.

    I would have let the goods to the Premier Inn go through but be waiting there with a sack and a baseball bat :mad:

    You are learning! Don't trust an email from anyone!.

    If you receive an email telling you to login, never use the link in the email. It is always safer just to log into the account directly. Email spoofing and phishing is just all too common

    I too had my Amazon, eBay and Microsoft account hacked. I suspect t in my case the connection was a common password.
    No harm was done on amazon (no transactions) but ebay hacking resulted in my account being used to trade software in Morocco. I couldn't see how it was being used since I had cancelled my PayPal years ago and you can't trade on eBay without one. But no explanation was given by them and the items up for trade were cancelled and again no harm done. I have since cancelled the accounts with eBay and Amazon and will perhaps return in time.
    As for the Microsoft account. Even when I had changed the password, there were attempted logins from 3 different countries and I still fail to see what is gained from hacking Microsoft accounts. But again I am not out of pocket and still have the account.
