We have a Ford Cmax with a dog cage in the middle of the boot. Middle sea down so the dog has plenty of air and we can see her. There is still room either side of the cage for shopping etc.

We have a standard poodle and he takes up more room than we expected. Get an estate - we have a logan - and more importantly get a travall dog guard, which only gives the dog half of the rear. They're quite expensive by the time you get all the bits and the rubber mat, but well worth it.

He previously took up our whole boot, which was a nightmare. Now he has half and we have half for shopping, boots, waterproof jackets, dog leads, dog food, harness etc.

    Bull terrier and skoda Fabia.
Normally he's snoozing on the back seat but I can get a crate in the boot with the back seat down if I need to.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

By the way make sure your dog is restrained when in a car.
    Rule 57
When in a vehicle make sure dogs or other animals are suitably restrained so they cannot distract you while you are driving or injure you, or themselves, if you stop quickly. A seat belt harness, pet carrier, dog cage or dog guard are ways of restraining animals in cars.

Volvo V70 perfect dog car and children) :rotfl:
  • Yet again the answer is a Skoda Octavia estate. And we’ve got a Great Dane, who fits in (although the luggage has to go in the roof box :-)

Peugeot 107 for my Cocker Spaniel, sits in the front passenger footwell. I figure the most likely accident is going to involve suddenly slowing down, so the dog is going to be fairly well restrained in the footwell and less likely to get injured by being flung around in the rear of the car.

Also means I can direct the AC onto him so that I don't get ill from his appaling dog breath if he starts panting:(
