Using three in europe

Hello, My phone and my husbands phone are both on three network, pay as you go. We are very, and I mean very low users of mobile phones. We are due to go to Europe,(Prague and Budapest) in a few weeks time and are wondering whether we should maybe change one of the phones to a different carrier. Three does not always get a signal when we are at home or even in some pubs. My friend can get a signal with talk talk when our three won’t pick up any signal. Our home phone and broadband are with talk talk so that may be my way forwards.

I would be grateful for anyone’s advice on what may be best for us. We won’t be wanting to phone home every day but would want to be able to contact someone if needed from Prague and or Budapest.
Many thanks for any ideas you can provide.

You will be fine, you wont be on three when you there, you will be using a local network. Plus calls, texts, and internet, are the same as at home. 3p a min,2p a text, and 1p per mb
  • Oh, thanks for the reply. I really don’t want a monthly contract but might consider it if Talk talk had better coverage in our local area. For now what we have more or less suits our need.

    Thanks again.

You wont need a contrac. Just top up before you leave the uk,and use your credit as you do at home

It’s not necessarily the network that results in “poor coverage”. Some phones work better than others.

If looking to change networks, read the small print carefully... for example Three appear to be the only network to state (so far) that after Brexit they will still offer free roaming in Europe.

Don’t worry, thanks to Parliament, we won’t be leaving the EU until 2086:rotfl:
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂
