Same here! Lakeland parkrun done - cold and soaking wet - heating switched back on to thaw out.

Which is why we spend a lot of time in the Canaries...currently 25 degrees and full sun...

Good id several nice holidays but that has been scuppered for now with our collection of pets- one diabetic dog who will probably likely live another 10 years and an older cat needing medication twice a day for the rest of her life- again likely another 10 years or so. So likely we'll continue as we are taking separate holidays abroad to family.
That is what happened to us, we found out our dog has diabetes last year and he needs to be injected with insulin twice a day.

We are having a night out next month and leaving our two dogs at the vet as they have a boarding service if your pet is ill. It would probably cost quite a lot to leave them there for a full two week holiday, however!:D

My daughter is a Registered Veterinary Nurse and, when she was working at a ‘first opinion’ practice, she and several of her colleagues used to do pet/house sitting for clients, staying in the owner’s home and caring for the pets, including administering any meds if required.

Maybe worth making enquiries with your local practice team?

(She doesn’t do it any more because she works in a specialist referral practice now so clients come from all over rather than being local.)

I had been thinking of going to a FIRE film next week in London. It has been set up by the guy who runs The Escape Artist blog. I would like to see the film at some point.

Part of me thinks about moving closer to inner London and just having a flat. We both like going to rock concerts so staying in London might be a better idea. I'm also vegan and London is fantastic for good vegan restaurants. All our family are in London too. Our 5 pets make the situation more complicated too as I don't fancy living in a flat with cats or dogs.

It's strange as we went put in London to see Muse in concert and we are now thinking about moving to Stratford (in east London, where the Olympics were) now.:) We would probably only stretch to a one bed flat there, though.:p

Oh, okay, something to think about, thanks.:)

I heard about that film on one of my many podcasts. If they show it "up north" I will go and see it. Should be a good night if you can get there

The trouble I have with these Gurus of FI is that they remind me of TV evangelists. They've jumped on a Band wagon to make money, raising hopes by selling a different enlightenment that the vast majority cannot attain.

That is a bit of a weird comment to make on a MSE forum.:D

Not everyone will be able to achieve FIRE, but most people can take steps to improve their financial situation.:)

Just done my local Saturday Park Run on the beach and came home absolutely freezing and drenched after my 1 hr coffee and chat with the regulars. Can't believe it's June.
Now sitting in my fleecy dressing gown with the heating on to warm up.
This weather is making me more determined to plan in lots of long holidays to sunny climates. Been reading up on travel hacking and getting cheaper flights, but feels like too much like hard work at moment.
Definitely considering the following as future holiday destinations-
Portugal, Cyprus, Malta, Vietnam, Mexico, USA, Croatia and maybe a few cruises.
City breaks to Budapest, Florence and Rome.
Hopefully giving myself and oh an annual travel budget of approx £6-8k so should be able to fit in a couple of decent holidays.
This weather is making me want to go now.

I completely get you. The weather is awful for June. Havent put my heating on since early may, and have resorted to: hanging out near the rayburn, wearing long socks and jumpers. Ridiculous.

heading for France end of june, maybe i'll be freezing there too lol.

my holiday plans are generally set. Nov and April on usa, france in july.
