I don't know about initiating transfers over the phone, but it can't be done online.
Depending on who you are transferring from, you can do it online at Santander. I have also done ISA transfers online at other providers. E.g. at Nationwide and Coventry.

EDIT: OOPS. That link doesn't seem to be working. Try this one https://www.santander.co.uk/personal/support/savings-and-investments/ISA-transfers and then click on "Cash ISA transfer form"

Oh dear, now I know I really have lost the plot

In fact I used Santander's online xfer facility only a month ago, but I couldn't find the link again today:o

The link does work but unfortunately your post was made 25 minutes too late as I went into Santander at 12:55 yesterday to ask for a transfer form, checking this thread beforehand for any updates. I also asked if there was any other way of doing it but the front line customer services assistant said not! I think I will initiate the transfer online, but I'm unsure how to contact a particular branch to ask them to rip up the paper request.

If you've already initiated the transfer by completing the form in branch yesterday, why would you want to repeat the process online, surely asking them once should suffice?

It's matured into a pittance-paying ISA, so each day of delay is approaching a pound in lost interest. The form will be posted to Nelson and that can't happen until tomorrow at the earliest, then you have to add on how long it will be sitting in somebody's in-tray. Hopefully Santander's computers have already contacted the Nottingham, as that Building Society is on Santander's approved list.
