Composing e-mail problem, text is minuscule. How to increase size?

My wife and I use Thunderbird to compose and send e-mails. It normally works well.
Since returning from a foreign trip at the weekend, my wife is finding it virtually impossible to compose e-mails on her HP laptop using W10. No matter what font size she chooses, the text appears minuscule and illegible. She thinks that the security check at the foreign airport may be to blame - they dropped it and tried to 'open' it the wrong way.
Our local friendly IT dealer thinks the computer is 'stuck' (he has not seen it yet). He thinks that it could be expensive to fix and suggests we should be looking to replace it.
Has any MSEer experienced this or can offer advice? She's lost without it. Thanks very much.

Don't know about Thunderbird but certainly the way to increase display size in browsers is CTRL and + or - to reduce. CTRL and mouse wheel does same thing. Worth a try but probably won't fix it.0

OP can you confirm that the tiny font is only in Thunderbird, and that all other software (text under icons on the desktop, wordprocessor, even browsing the web) has font at a normal size?:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

Thanks, all, for the great advice.
This is just a holding message. I plan to take action tonight and will report back.0 -
I'd rather be on a boat. An ipad seems a bit small :eek:debitcardmayhem wrote: »Am a bit vague since i am on an ipad in the North Atlantic in a force 8 ....Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -
"Stuck"? That's a great technical description - I'd seriously consider taking it to someone else if that's the level of your IT dealer's expertise.
If it's only in Thunderbird I'd take the advice in post #2 as a start. I have used Thunderbird for years and occasionally when I reply to an email that I've received the type size is miniscule, but I've never managed to work out why and it only ever affects that particular email.0 -
Don't use your 'local friendly IT dealer' when you get back. Find someone else that's not trying to sell you a new machine....;)Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

As I pointed out in my first post, he hasn't seen the unit. My wife popped in without the unit while shopping. Oh, and he doesn't sell computers.Don't use your 'local friendly IT dealer' when you get back. Find someone else that's not trying to sell you a new machine....;)0 -
But he'll sell you a load of unneccessary and overpriced repairs.
'Stuck'? Whether he's seen the computer or not, he's got $ signs flashing in his eyes.
Stay away from him.0
