Why do energy companies lower tariffs but still charge high standing charges,it's like paying another BILL about time the goverment looked into this

There are companys without a standing charge,granted,there unit rates are higher,but you only pay for what you use.Im with ebico. I pay £30 a month,except when i go on holiday for a month at a time, then according to my smart meter it drops to £3 for that month im away0

Do you remember the days when the first so many units were at one rate and the rest at another (loer) rate ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Standing charges on Oil ??Coal ?? Wood .
With SC you can at least shop around not so the old method .
Question is better asked of the regulater not MSE .0
