I've not long cancelled my flex direct account. I'm wondering if I apply for another flex direct account today, I'll be able to cancel and set up a new regular saver by Friday.

This is confusing. Are you saying you got an existing Regular Saver, without a pre-req current account? If so, you are probably well advised to get yourself 'legitimised' again asap anyway.

From a timing point of view, you could just about make the Friday deadline if you open a new FlexDirect today. It used to take a day or two after current account opening before you could open the RS.

Judging by my experience & that of others, if you close it now (or before 20.00 tonight) you should be able to open a new one tomorrow morning.

I still can't open a new RS, same error message. An email arrived today confirming the closure of the previous RS so I'd hope to open a new one tomorrow.

Sorry, I should have said close the existing saver, not cancel.

I had the Flex Direct current account when I opened the regular saver 6 months ago, but I cancelled it recently as I wasn't using it. I forgot I needed it to have the regular saver

Mine only had a couple of months to go. Closed it yesterday online, deleted the standing order, and was able to open another this morning.

You should really get yourself a FlexDirect so you are entitled to hold the RS.
    5. If, at any time, you no longer hold one of these current accounts or fail to meet the above terms, we may transfer your money to another instant access savings account. The terms and conditions and the interest rate applicable to that account at that time, will apply. We will personally notify you before making this transfer.

I've applied for and been accepted for another Flex Direct account, but the details are not online yet.

I've decided to hold onto my Regular Saver rather than close it and be unable to get another one in time.
