Cruise & Maritime (CMV) problems

Hi, we've recently cut short our cruise on CMV's Marco Polo ship, as our cabin was flooded. CMV offered us £100 in compensation for the disturbed night (flood started at 23:50 hrs) and a 15% discount on certain newly booked cruises. NB The only way I'd go on another CMV ship was if they were the only option in rescuing me from a war zone!:mad:
I'm about to start the claim process for our premature flights home etc. with our insurer, but I guess I can only claim for the nights lost (5 nights) - advice please?
What I'd like to do is claim the entire costs of the cruise and the expenses occurred in getting us home.
Can anyone offer advice or relate a similar experience?

No, this ship was sailing at full capacity. Before the incident there were signs at reception saying that they were at full capacity and they would be unable to relocate people. I did specifically ask the hotel manager about relocation and he said it wouldn't be possible.0

At one time the cabin floor (carpet) was under 2 inches of water. Even after they had attempted to dry the carpet (for approx 16 hours) and stated that in their opinion it was now fit for passengers to return to; I knelt down on the carpet and my trousers knees were soaking.0

This sounds very odd. What you are saying as I understand it, the cruise line considered the cabin fit for you to use but you chose to cut short the trip and arranged to fly home.
I cannot imagine any circumstances where the cruise company would refund the entire cost of the cruise. In fact as you took the decision to curtail the holiday that it will be covered by insurance.
I have been in a similar situation although in a hotel rather than a ship, where my room was flooded in a matter of minutes several inches deep. The floor was tiles rather than carpet but the staff rectified the situation and we continued the holiday in that room. Stuff happens!0 -

I guess if you like / are content to sleep in a water saturated atmosphere, then YOU would be welcome to do so. We weren't (I value my well being / health higher than that),0 -

Well, from my limited research I found that in a similar circumstance :
"Carnival Cruises said passengers affected would get full refunds, a 50 per cent credit for a future cruise, and could be flown home before the end of the cruise."0 -

Well, from my limited research I found that in a similar circumstance :

I think that was a bit more than a couple of inches that was cleaned up to leave a damp carpet.

If your case was like that, I would have expected the cruise company to arrange your flights....how did the conversation go regarding flights and refund before you chose to leave the ship?0
