The contract is totally with Costco. I paid Costco for the cameras and the installation, no money was paid to anyone else. Costco will refund the cameras, they are faulty but not the £300 I paid them for the installation.
I have verbally been told by other cctv installers that the taping up of connectors isn’t up to industry standards and wouldn’t mean it’s waterproof. It could be be why I’m having so many issues

I’m going to ask them but I’m waiting to see if Costco will change their mind plus my credit card company are are involved. I don’t see why I should lose £300 for either faulty equipment or installation provided by Costco.
A report on the installation is the next step but extra expense for me

The company, TSG that installed your cctv have a 12 month warranty on the installation.
Have you been in touch with them with your complaint regarding their poor work?

You could claim the cost of removal as consiquenital loss, similar to loss of food in a faulty freezer, or recovery of a broken down newly purchased car.

I would write to them with a LBA, get some quotes for removal of the cameras. You should not be out of pocket and claim for the cost.

Otherwise, you could pay for the removal now, apply for the full refund and then sue if they dont pay up.

Thank you. It’s looking like I may have to go to court as Costco not interested in helping

This is true, but sometimes you have to help yourself. For example, if you take a faulty item to a retailer and it gets repaired, then:

    You > manufacturer > you

is often a lot quicker process than

    you > retailer > manufacturer > retailer > you.

So being set in the 'my contract is with the retailer' stance doesn't always yield the quickest results.

Even though you didn't deal with the installer directly, I would imagine they have a record of your installation and it's not going to do any harm to contact them and see what they say.

If Costco don't buckle at the sight of a LBA, then surely this will be a lot slower process than contacting the installer and seeing if they can help you out?

It would also be worth getting these other (I assume independant) installers that you have spoken with to put down in writing that the installation is substandard in their professional opinion.

As has been previosly pointed out, the installation company have a 12 month warranty on the parts they supplied and installed.

The installation according to their terms etc was signed of by customer as satisfactory.

The op wishes to deal with Costco directly however.

I wish the op luck that the LA letter will succeed.

Costco may not want to argue of a minimum amount.
