  • Well ive done the interview and i hope i can say it went well, just me there and two very nice fella's did the interview-they made me feel very welcome and as has already been said it was very informal in fact i felt rather over dressed, lol.
I was asked a set of 10 questions that were indeed quite random and about how you moneysave at home(shouldve just said by this website!!),how you would communicate with collegues and manager ect and give various examples of how you have demonstrated in the past taking the lead in a project and the outcomes ect.
I feel it went very well,i answered all the questions at length and they kept shaking their heads in agreement with my answers whilst writing everything down.
Flexability is definatly something they are looking for and i can only offer my evenings at the moment but made them aware that its more than just a job for me and im looking to stay on with them and work my way higher and take on longer hours so they seemed pleased at that.
I had done so much research and notes in preperation that i was quite sad they didnt ask me why i like ikea and what i knew about the company but nevermind i felt alot more confident being well prepared and i didnt shake or forget to breathe!!
I will get a call next week to let me know if ive got it or not and will post back then-good or bad
thanks again for all the good luck wishes and good advice,Laura.

  • Hi everyone,
    I GOT THE JOB!!!!
Ive just had a phonecall from one of the guys who interviewed me and he offered me the 12 hour contract i was after
    BUT
Im absolutly gutted to have been told i need to take part in a 2 day induction this weekend which i had to tell him i cant do as i have nobody to look after the children from 9am-5pm saturday+sunday so he said i will have to do the one the following weekend which i said ok to but again it just wont work out with the children,I dont have anyone to look after them, what can i do?I feel so sad now because i was really hoping i would get it.I would have thought they would have made any induction into the hours that i am available to work (monday-thursday 4-10pm) because if i was able to leave the kids at the weekend i would have applied for more hours!!
    <sad>

Happymummy is there no family or friends or neighbours about? Is there maybe a contract child minder that could look after them? I know a contractor may cost more bur at least through a proper agency you should have properly vetted people.

if you are so severely limited you need to make contingency plans .. what would happen if you end up in hospital for a week or so?

I don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!
  • Ivan, its more the length of time i will have to leave them! I have a friend who might help for a few hours in the saturday morning but then she goes to work as do my parents and my husband works everyday and is away from 8am. the girls are good but their are three of them ( 8,6 and baby) so its hard work for the likes of my friend who has no children and panics at the thought of even having one!!
I know it sounds like im complaining but im not! This is exactly what my husband said to me-i dont have time to work because ive got 3 young kids! I just wanted something abit extra when they are safely tucked up in bed without a stranger looking after them because their daddy would be home.
If i ended up in hospital then my husband would be there and so would my parents but that would be three jobs disrupted and closed down for that amount of time as the kids cant go with them.
I wouldnt say i have no help but its just the two days they want me their is no one!

Might be worth contacting your local surestart (if you have one) they keep a register of childminders who'll mind the kids at short notice. My missus is one of them but she doesn't do weekends.
  • Hi Happymummy,

Have u managed to resolve the child minding problem for this w/e? Would like to know how you get on. Good luck.
