Well done on the new job Cranky and sorry you are so worried about your sister Brambling. It is worrying when family members don't look after their health. I have given up nagging my sister about her too frequent drinking or my son in law about his sugar addiction. We all have our own battles to fight and nagging doesn't help. Just gentle encouragement maybe. She sounds in a bit of a state though.
I have a 7-8 mile walk with my walking group today. Thankfully the weather is a bit cooler. DH and I are going to get electric bikes as we have so many hills in Cornwall and they stop us using our current mountain bikes. I tried out a neighbours over the weekend and it was brill. You still have to put a bit of effort in but the hills are effortless. Not that good for our fitness levels mind you but will get us out and about.

Pleased to report a -3lbs weight loss this week.
Didn't start off well after another bad day last Tuesday. had a couple of good days Weds and Thurs which pout me in the right frame of mind for the weekend. I have had a few treats but we've also been pretty active too. Went for a lovely run Sunday morning too.
Just need to keep the momentum up now.
It's another nice day here, although cooler than it has been but I'm planning a walk out a lunchtime.0 -
I didn't dare weigh myself yesterday so will wait til next Monday. I suspect body composition right now is approximately 25% chocolate :rotfl:Sealed pot challenge 11: number 5940

Cranky, congratulations on the new job and it sounds like you've created a thoroughly lovely person in the HT.
Brambling, I'm not surprised you're worried about your sister. It's really hard when you know that there's nothing you can do to help, she's got to get to that stage herself.Izadora try slowing down to get your 20 minute run in.
If I go much slower I don't know it could even be classed as jogging
I'll try again tomorrow though and take it as slowly as is humanly possible. I was quite proud of myself for going out for a jog/walk yesterday as I was very hungover and could quite easily have stayed on the sofa with a bag of crisps but didn't want to start making excuses not to pull on my trainers and get moving. I didn't attempt the 20 minutes but figured that anything I did was better than nothing and managed 25 minutes of about half running half walking.0 -
Good afternoon all,
Brambling, I have a similar problem with my sister. I used to always be a stone or so heavier than her but now I'm 2 stone lighter and I haven't had that dramatic a weight loss..... Mine seems to have a sugar addiction that she can't fight and even seeing what type 2 diabetes has done to our dad isn't stopping her. It's hard to watch isn't it?
katiepants if you are 25% chocolate then so am I. The HT made rocky road with our easter eggs and we ate it in 2 days with only a small portion being shared elsewhere. It got rid of all the chocolate though.
enthusiasticsaver I know someone with an electric bike. They say it encourages them to go further than they otherwise would as they know they can still get home even if they are tired.
Izadora well done on going out even with a hangover. I would have stayed on the sofa!
Right, the line has been drawn. I've been healthy food shopping this morning. I've also been to the dentist who has given me antibiotics for my infected tooth but I'm ok with that. I weighed myself this morning but for the purpose of the challenge I'll stick with yesterday's reading and report in on a Tuesday from next week. As my sister (who was supposed to weigh with me on a Monday) has given up again, I'm carrying on with my friend who usually weighs in on a Tuesday. Friend has lost nearly 2.5 stone since Christmas so I need to get my act together.....even though her weight loss is good, friend has been feeling a bit down lately so we're joining forces and weighing on the same day to give each other a bit of extra support.
Take care all of you0 -
Evening All
I'm another one who has overindulged over the Easter weekend. So no weight loss to report this week. I'm going to claim it as a STS. I've had a lovely family time though, with both my sisters coming up at various points. I did a barbecue on Good Friday for everyone and have done various lunches, dinners and teas since for different family members. I'm back to normal today, although not quite achieved my step count yet for the day. I still managed to do my steps every day of the weekend and also swam and played tennis at various points.
Today I had Pilates this morning and then played tennis with my son. This afternoon DH needed to get some bits for the MG so we took it to our nearest city and did a bit of shopping. I found a nice little storage unit at Lidl that just finishes off the last corner of my kitchen so we've been putting that together for the last hour. DH was very patient and even took it apart again when I decided it had one shelf too many and if we removed it I could fit my cookbooks on it.
Lunch: Ham and cream cheese with mixed salad leaves, cherry tomatoes and cucumber. Also some German salami left over from DGD's lunch.
Dinner: Salmon with Hollandaise sauce, peas, left over swede and broccoli from Sunday, tiny jacket potato. Greek yoghurt with raspberries.
Treats: 1 finger of a small Kitkat from a multipack. DH and I may share another later.
Looking at my step count I may nip out to work now and collect all the publicity materials I deliver on a Thursday as they weren't ready yesterday with it being a Bank Holiday.

Sometimes living a hundred miles apart makes it easier as I don't have to watch her self-destruct up close. Like your sister she also has a very sweet tooth and has told me she has a pecan and toffee danish every day last time we spoke she was saying maybe it would be better to come off her diabetes tablets and go onto insulin, she doesn't think there's a needle involved !! I asked her what she thought was inside the pen. There's no point nagging as she then feels we are ganging up on her and as I'm one of seven (6 girls) it can feel intimidating even if it comes from love and caring.
I'm still fighting temptation, the table at work contains treats from India and Dubai. I checked the ingredients on the ones from India and put the box down at the mention of pure ghee  i was glad I did as I'm told they're really sweet. I'm determined not to undo my chocolate free Easter

Morning All
Well after the eating frenzy that was Easter I am weighing in with a gain. +1lb
To be honest I'm surprised it wasn't more so I'm happy with that.
Back to work and normal from yesterday so should hopefully will be moving forwards (or downwards).
Cranky congrats on the new job :j
B porridge, splash or milk, berries, 1 tsp of jam
L Chana roasted veg, salad, chopped roasted pork, chick peas and pomegranate seeds, apple
D probably jacket potato and baked beans.'You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose' - Dr Suess

I had a lovely walk out in the sunshine yesterday afternoon. I then very nearly had a wobble mid afternoon but the feeling of doing something for my future self won. it helps when I can see and feel a little bit of progress, it makes it easier to visualise the end goal, still a long way to go but small steps.
I'm off for a run shortly before the rain this afternoon.0 -
Sorry, not been around lately, lots going on medically but on the bright side I can report a loss of -2lb. Happy with that as now only 9lbs to go till I'm 10 stone something...0
