ironically if tax is paid on a monthly basis it auto renews at end if year even tho your mot has run out , this happened to my car and I did not realize we had passed 12 mths
Mines didn't, I got a letter when it was due to start the new monthly payments saying about my bike no longer being MOTd.
Possibly your new year started before the MOT ran out, and this is why it was over 12 months.

The Isle of Man has no MOT (and no speed limits outside towns), they seem to manage somehow

I have right to park outside my house as I have a driveway :)
but everyone else also have the right to park outside your house as well ;)
Your driveway gives you access to your house, you dont own the road it leads from

But not in front of the drive - provided of course it has a dropped kerb installed by the council or its agents.

thats my point. You might have the "right" to park outside your house but so does everybody else. The house does not own the stretch of road where the dropped kerb is and has no more rights to park across the drive than anybody else has

Pretty sure he means parking on his driveway rather than on the road outside his property ;)
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride
  • If not having an MOT makes your blood boil, go to Spain... you see UK registered cars every day that aren’t taxed or have a valid MOT. The Spanish traffic police are able to check details, but only do so on main roads, not urbanisations...

I got a visit from plod when someone upset with me parking near their house reported it for no MOT. It had run out 3 days earlier. No letters about it.

I reported it and all the text in the e-mail said was that reporting cars with no MOT gets a letter sent to the registered owner.

Wow, that's going to do a lot, considering they've been driving it for over 6 months with no MOT. So while we all have to pay ours, this person is getting away with driving said car around with no MOT. It had moved again today, clearly showing it was being driven. They aren't really a neighbour, they are a couple of streets away. The ironic thing is, if the idiot hadn't kicked off, then they'd have gotten away with no MOT for the rest of the year no doubt. And why rant at someone else when you, yourself, aren't actually paying your dues like everyone else has to.

Reported it as abandoned as that was only option originally. Obviously not abandoned, but was hoping they'd spot that although not abandoned it has no MOT. Obviously wouldn't find out if they follow that up.

And to the person about "agreeing with him" because I also find it "annoying". Well no. There is a difference to finding it slightly annoying but knowing full well everyone has a right to park on the road, as long as they aren't causing an obstruction and have paid their tax (if they have sorn it needs to be off the road). So no, I don't agree that it's rude or arrogant. Tried to move mine twice at the weekend only to be beaten to the spot twice by someone else. Oh well, I thought, never would I tell them "You know that's arrogant as you don't live here".

I'm not sitting on the phone for over an hour again to report in on 101 for nothing to happen.
