MOT - What is the point
That was always going to get peoples attention. What am I on about? It starts with parking in my area being poor. Fine, I'm not lazy, I just park over the street. I have valid tax, insurance and MOT as long as I'm not causing an obstruction I can park where I like.
Appears the idiot that recently moved in to one house I park outside, thinks different. Walked past the car then came back. Telling me, "I know you probably pay tax and insurance but you've been outside my for 3 weeks recently. It's ignorant". No it's not. As you pointed out, I pay insurance and tax, aslong as I'm not causing an obstruction, I'm entitled to park where I like. I have had a vehicle outside mine of over a week. Yeah, it annoys us all. It's convinent being able to park outside your house. But I'm not complaining. The person pays their tax and insurance so has a right to park there.
We all know no one has a right to park outside their own house. This idiot doesn't appear to understand this.
Anyway. To cover my car I've report the "incident" especially with it ended "Carrying on parking there...." suggesting he'll start damaging the car.
Then what happens the next day. Oh look, his car is outside his house. Fine. Ooo, lets do a quick check. Oh look, NO MOT.
Fine, might be marked as not being driven. But nope, it's actively being driven. They still have 7 months tax left, if they don't get MOT they'll have not had it for a year. Currently, they haven't had an MOT for 6 months.
Reporting it is a pain. They haven't made it easy at all. Not only that, appears despite all the "scare" warnings, the registered keeper will just get a letter. Wow, that's really gonna make a difference. In the mean time, they are still actively driving it. You see it move every day. How did they get insurance and how did they get tax. According to the gov website, you need a valid MOT cert to be able to get tax. So how is their tax valid? I suspect they are avoiding it because looking at the history it's failed the MOT over the years a few times.
But what's the point of warning about NOT having MOT when all you're going to do is "send them a letter".
How ironic. Moaning about parking then ironically not having an MOT. Why draw attention to yourself. The idiot.

If they get caught without an MOT they can issue a fine up to £1000 even if it's just parked on the road. But you saying this never happens and people only get letters warning them ?0

I got a visit from plod when someone upset with me parking near their house reported it for no MOT. It had run out 3 days earlier. No letters about it.0

The result would normally be a fixed penalty of £100. No points.0

ironically if tax is paid on a monthly basis it auto renews at end if year even tho your mot has run out , this happened to my car and I did not realize we had passed 12 mths0

No Mot report to the police, they will probably ignore as they did with a car near us.
Once the tax ran out council were on it very quickly.0 -
I was stopped by plod just 4 days after my MOT ran out as it was 'on their system'.. Unfortunately their system wasn't good enough to know it had passed an MoT 3 days before.0

Wow someone really wants a neighbour war. Be careful where this leads. No matter how anonymously you do this, and even if someone else does it, he is going to assume it is you. I'm not saying don't do it, I'm not saying do it, I'm saying be careful. Could it be an oversight on his part? My wife made a similar oversight and we only realised when I did an MOT and RFL check on my wife's then car to demonstrate the page to my BIL.0

The idiot seems to understand you can park outside his house - hence the part about "i know you probably pay tax & insurance", he just thinks you're being discourteous/impolite/rude (which is one of the definitions of "ignorant") by doing so.
Something you seem to agree with in theory, given your "it annoys us all".You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

Oh and if you do end up with a neighbour dispute remember you now have to declare them in a seller's pack. So it can cost you a home sale also...0
