Virgin Fibre Broadband Problems?

We have recently had Virgin Fibre Broadband installed and it’s supposed to be good. The problem is, when we are not in the room where the router is, it’s useless!
Upstairs, it hardly works, my phone tends to disconnect and use 4G.
Does anyone else have this problem? I don’t want to buy a booster. I just want the broadband to work throughout the house, I am due to move soon and considering another provider now.

I thought the VM routers were quite good on signal.
What model is it? Liteon ?0
