This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning
What a silly time to be up. Awake at 3 and no more zzzzs for me.

Off to Manchester soon to last minute cover for a colleague again. No workbook so am winging it and ironically its Stress Management :D I think Ill just do a bit of relaxing meditation and send them to sleep...shame it doesn't work on me.

Food later is a HM chicken kiev with some baby spud and peas. Car park menu is ham and branston butties with a flask of coffee :)

Holly hope the radio is going ok and your getting some sleep

Hope everyone has a lovely day

    Morning everyone

Nelski - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one, also those who are poorly and those looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Dh up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 getting ready for work and I'm showered and dressed and enjoying first cuppa and brekkie whilst on here. DS2 ok and settled.

Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, not sure about today possibly beef stew - but will need to buy the meat but have loads of veg that needs using up.

I have the usual "to do" list - and nails appointment mid morning so will head into town to visit the bank and building society, then on to the nail appt and call in to get the meat on my way back home.

I will put another load in the WM shortly - I got a line of washing very nearly dry yesterday even though it was dull and cloudy all day.

    Keep safe and well x

    Good morning all

Thank you for starting us off Nelski, how was it with your DM yesterday?

We went to see mother yesterday, a quiet visit, the only time she spoke was to say 'are you going?' as we left.

Going to the garden centre this morning, I'm sure DH will enjoy
a coffee or hot chocolate. I like to look at all the plants but they are so expensive.

Special thoughts are with Poppy, Holly, taff, Steve, Gers and her DM and all those finding life difficult.

    Take care all

    Good morning everyone.

Things were better yesterday with DM, we both ignored the cantankerous period. The good news is that she may be allowed home on Saturday. :j She'll come complete with wheely zimmer, high cushion and a perching stool.

Today is my teaching day, if my student turns up so a friend is going to visit in my place. I may just stay in my jimjams!

My thoughts are with all those struggling. Happy Thursday to all.
  • Morning folks and thanks NELSKI for the early kick off. Another glorious start here, feeling very mild again. Could get used to this! I had another rubbish night of clock watching again last night, I think the Sandman forgets where I live.

Just had a catch up of yesterday's posts. No HOLLY, hope she is ok? GERS I hope today is a better day. A lot of old people can become very self centred when they are ill (I know from experience with my own mum) and never give a thought to how the stress is affecting the carer.

I had a lovely day out yesterday. Just two of us in the end as our third friend had an upset tummy and was chained to the loo! I introduced friend to St Gemma's where everything is 99p and she loved the good rummage among a lot of tat! She unearthed a brand new Next top in just the colour she had been looking for and I found a brand new M & S jumper. Not a colour I normally go for but at 99p no contest! Also a necklace and a book both 50p. Next stop the Everything 20p Shop where I got 3 cards. Talk about last of the big spenders! We then enjoyed a lovely lunch and shared a bottle of wine. She wants a return visit on our next trip out!

Today's excitement is a visit to Aldi! DD is picking me up on her way to the school run so we should get there early and beat the crowds! After last week's big shop I don't need a lot today. Still battling to get freezer stocks down and I think I am winning at last!

No girlies sleeping tonight as DD not working tomorrow (working the w/e) but they are coming for their Thursday fix at tea time after swimming so the Bolognese is already simmering away .

Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Take care all xx

Shhh, don't tell anyone but it didn't rain yesterday! Hoping for another dry day, just makes me feel better.

As expected it was a busy day at work yesterday but it meant the day flew in. Came home and finished the little bed, I'll put it together tonight. DS1 came and collected the wardrobe so the room is clear now, the rest of the furniture is in the front bedroom but I can get that tidied up and hopefully unearth the bed later.

Meeting friends for something to eat later, we had to cancel last week so there will be much to catch up on.

Still missing you tru - hope you're OK.
    Hugs to you Gers.

Have a happy Thursday, take care. XX

Good morning, another nice day here. Yesterday was fine and dry, chilly though.

We went to Dd's to put some plants in for her, and babysit the little one while she took the pup to training.
When she came back we had lunch, sat chatting, went and collected dgd from school, and it wasn't till were leaving that we realised we hadn't put the plants in!! Dgs is coming to us tomorrow, so Dd will do the plants then.

Not much happening here, I've had the usual disturbed night.

It's cardmaking this afternoon, that's it really.

Hope everyone has a good day

OL hope I'm not speaking out of turn here but i'm thinking that SO's Mum maybe has dementia, and as such doesn't always realise what she is saying and how it may affect others,

    Don't want to upset/annoy anyone.
  • Morning everyone,

Well, today is 2nd date night. Believe it or not, we're going to an axe throwing place then might grab dinner after. I know, it's really weird, but we're both into trying things like that or The Cube, The Crystal Maze, escape rooms etc. For me, it's miles better than like going to the movies. Get the competitive juices going whilst having a laugh.

Many of you have been on my financial journey with me for a number of years and you may remember that I originally got into debt as I paid for everything with my then newly girlfriend. I still have this urge to be the gentleman and pay, it's something I'll need to learn how to manage. To be fair to this girl, she was adamant about paying for this tonight, I'll get the food after. A compromise.

So today I got a taxi into work and I'll get a tram in to meet her at circa 6pm. I'm looking forward to it. Wish me luck.

Organza - Yes, it was the guy who wasn't pulling his weight who was let go. Unlike me, he was a contractor and so didn't need to be given notice. He still lives with his parents so there's no major impact on his livelihood for the time being.
Gers - That's excellent news. I'm delighted to hear she's on the mend. Baby steps - literally.
TA - What is St Gemmas? It sounds amazing!!
