My HSBC switching offer ran out before all the paperwork completed. At that time they were paying £150 + £50 a year later.

I phoned up to complain and they credited my account with £200 right away, so I didn't have to wait for the extra £50.

I'd be very surprised with OP if they add an expired offer to a much later account opening, regardless of what they said - not without another fight anyway.
I will find this out soon.

Received an email from the bank today, telling me my account switch will be done in next week.

But I haven't got neither account number, online banking access nor a debit card, how am I suppose to use this bank account?

Why did you even apply for, never mind agree to, a switch if you didn't have access to the new account? Whilst the HSBC handling is disgraceful, you have to shoulder some of the blame for finding yourself in the situation you are in now.

I trust you didn't switch an account that you actually need on a day-to-day basis - but if you do, don't ask the forum how you're supposed to use the account as we can not help you with it over and beyond suggesting you ask HSBC.

Because they offer to switch as part of the account application, and I did it.

I certainly don't care lose access to a few pounds in my old account and some DDs to savings accounts. However, I'm surprised how an account switch could close my old account before I have access to the new one.

That's the sting in the tail of 7 day switching. From my experience, getting an account with a completely new bank fully operational is often beyond that limit, even without the many hurdles you've had thrown in your path.

I would never, ever, switch an account that had any meaningful purpose into a brand new account I didn't yet have an opportunity to access and fully evaluate. On the other hand, I wouldn't think twice about sacrificing a dormant donor account (especially one I've opened expressly for the purpose). Perhaps something to consider for the future...

Finally, this whole mess ended today.

I'm not very happy about the result, because I've wasted so much time on it, and the compensation for that is only peanuts. But it could have been worse, much worse. A little is better than nothing.
