I always usually stay with my current supplier usually but as I've recently moved and on a British Gas Temporary 2019 tariff. So did a comparison. USwitch have EoN as one of the top suppliers that would save me £300 a year. But it doesn't appear on the Energy Club comparison.

Even checked compare the market and Eon was on there too. Just worried if it's not on MSE and worried I might get stung on higher tarrif than I'm on currently.

    Thank you.

    Hello fleetingmind.

Which of our tariffs can't you find on MSE's Cheap Energy Club site?

I am an official company representative of E.ON. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"

AS per jcontest's post above. I'll add::

I think that you will not see some deals.

Some non-standard tariffs are unique to specific circumstances. A good example would be Octopus Go, which is designed for EV owners who use loads of electric at night (it's not economy7). I did the sums and it was a country mile cheaper than a standard cheap tariff on MSE. When the scales tip on EV ownership, then I expect we'll see more of these tariffs and comparison sites will have to tailor their questions in your usage details to include this.

I've recently switch to SymbioEnergy after finding them on the CAB site. I asked MSE Cheap Energy Club to add them to their data base and got the following reply:

"Sorry that you can't see your supplier on our list. We're reliant on suppliers to share the details of their tariffs with us so that we're able to key these into our system for you to select. Frustratingly, some small suppliers aren’t particularly good at doing this.

Over the past year or two, there has been an increase in the number of new smaller providers entering the market and it’s difficult to track this.

Some of these suppliers have shared their tariff details with us and we’re working on adding these to our system, but due to the number of new suppliers this will take some time."

Clearly MSE do not provide a complete list.

Clearly. And, not that it makes any difference, but MSE gets the data from Money Supermarket, whose list is also, obviously incomplete.

I wonder why they don't just allow you to put your current tariff in, as in unit costs and standing charges and do the comparison on that instead of using what they think is your tariff from your existing supplier, then it wouldn't matter if they haven't got the particular tariff you're on.

Good post, thanks for sharing that.

It’s a rather disconcerting admission isn’t it? :... Some of these (new) suppliers have shared their tariff details with us...”

A bit alarming because it’s the smaller suppliers (and the new ones in particular) that will be advertising tariffs at the cheaper end of the scale,...e.g. SymbioEnergy.

SymbioEnergy have figured prominently on other (all??) price comparison sites for many weeks but not on MSE;...why would Symbio choose to leave MSE out?

Perhaps MSE Cheap Energy Club should change the ‘Show FULL Market Comparison’ tab to say “Show FULL (well, perhaps not completely full) Market Comparison”. :money:
