Ultimately EVs are a better bet. They're a better, more reliable technology which is much cheaper to run than fossil fuels. It's just a shame a new one currently costs about £30k for the cheap version.

    That's a lot of Almeras.

Brand new Zoe (battery owned) can be had for about £19k.

I got my used one for maybe a grand more than a similar year/mileage/spec automatic petrol Clio....

It's the total running costs that are important, but I appreciate that purchase price will be a barrier.

If you were to do around 10k miles and use a more realistic cost per kWh of 7p, rather than 10p,

More realistic? My electric is ~15p/kWh, I think you should ignore solar/Economy 7 etc as I don't think a lot of people have those. I don't charge at the minute though.

How much for a new Almera?! At least compare used with used. £12k maybe for a used Zoe 'i' 22kWh I guess. That's still a lot of Almeras. I had an Almera GTi BTW and it was fantastic.
