Wilko charged me for item on receipt I did not buy

I have to agree with cajef below - I think you've misread the tone of their email. So I was in Wilko the other day and bought £2.80 worth of packaging tape, small jotter pads etc. It wasn't until I got home and checked the receipt that I've been charged £15 for a cake tin.
I took a photo of the receipt and emailed it to Wilko explaining what happened and asking them to check CCTV cameras to back up my claim and refund the monies. They replied back with a generic copy paste 'we're not interested' email:
That wasn't helpful, you can't refund something without the item in question. I'm not going to bother returning to town as that will no doubt use up half of the £15 on fuel.
So yeah, check your receipts before leaving the store.
Could you email them back and explain that going back to the store would require a special trip due to its relative location to you and see what they offer?
I think the OP may have misread the tone of Wilko's email: it's not always easy to infer tone/intent in the written word, and I doubt companies would let their staff use emojis/emoticons in official emails to customers. How was that a 'we are not interested email' and unhelpful when they offered to refund the amount?
What did you expect them to do?
Now, on this forum, we're free to use (or misuse) them as we wish

I’m deaf myself and I always check the till price and also the price on the card machine before paying and also the price on the till as you can see their tills.

Of course you can if there is proof that the item wasn't taken. A refund doesn't have to be for an item it can be for an incorrect charge. It's nothing , not nothink.0 -
This happened to me in Wilko too - I did go into store to sort it out though.
The manager looked back through the CCTV footage and could see I did not purchase the item on the receipt (A pretty bulky kids toy) and refunded it for me.
Appreciate that going into store isn't what you wanted to do but it did get my problem resolved in a few minutes.0
