O/S Daily Tuesday 26th March 2019

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one, especially those that are poorly or looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Cold and frosty start to the day here, but supposed to get warmer later, no rain forecast.

DH up and getting ready for work as is DS1, I'm showered and dressed and just enjoying first cuppa and porridge.

Dinner last night was egg, sausage, beans and chips/jacket potato. I remembered to get the chicken out to defrost so tonight's dinner will be chicken wrapped in bacon - not sure what I'll cook to go with it though as no LO's from Sunday's roast! Thinking maybe a potato layer bake but need to pre-cook the potato as they take ages to cook, so possibly not the best idea for a work night when time is short. I can get that sorted though.

Yesterday as suspected work was busy but we got there in the end. We'll see what today brings. The day flew past though and today is my short day and last day of my working week tomorrow, and I'm not working Saturday either, so a proper break.

Keep safe and well x

Morning all! No idea why I'm up so early...Oxford was fine, the Maggies center was really quite nice, the building was modern, it was nice to be in, had lovely views out the windows, and I met a lovely lady called Claire, who I had a chat with about stuff, and now I know where it is [a stones throw from the hospital] I anticipate using it in the next few weeks
The scheduling visit was ok, got tattooed, just pinpricks for positioning, only felt two of them, the third was in the deadzone of my right side.
In the absence of any more appointments in the next week, I am going to try to sort the house out, and declutter some of the clutter I've managed to accumulate.
I'm going to sit down with my coffee and plan what I can reasonably achieve in a minute.
The OH came up trumps with wood aquisition so we can have a couple of raised beds/edged beds now, so that's another thing to do in the week.
Did you go shopping TA? Nelski, happy car park if you're in one, dreaded bananas if you're not? Holly, it' good that it went so quick and so well...Hows your face Rosy? Gers, lodger! haha! And yes, the evil CH can lure you into a life of indolence[not]...although it is nice...snoozer, you sound more chipper...ginot, a fried had a tumour removed in similiar circumstances, her staples were a sight to behold...hope the removal is as quick as they can make it...
Wotcha people reading not posting and people reading and unable to post...
    Turbulent Tuesday!

    Good morning all

Thank you for starting us off nmlc

Didn't get to sleep until the early hours and DH woke me at 5 as he fancied a cup of tea. Exhausted before I start the day.

Sunny yesterday but quite a chill in the wind. Managed an hour in the garden doing a few jobs and cutting the lawn.

Hope you all have a good day

  • Morning folks and thanks NMLC.

I have been awake most of the night with a very painful shoulder and upper arm. It appeared from nowhere before I went to bed last night. I have been applying Oriental Rub very liberally, as well as taking painkillers but no improvement as yet. I hope it's not a frozen shoulder as the last one I had took weeks/months to go away.

My trip to Leeds yesterday was worth the effort but why do M & S feel the need to stock thousands of different bras! It took me forever to wade through all the padded bras I didn't want (bosoms are ample enough without padding!) till I found the ones I got last time. And luckily they had my size. I got stocked up and also bagged a pair of summer pj's off the sale rail. When I went to pay the girl said I had 20% off everything loaded on my Sparks card as it was my birthday month! The only other store I went in was TKMaxx where I bought a couple of t shirts.

It was so warm wandering about it felt like summer. There were people dressed in skimpy clothing and I was there overpowered in a big coat!
And yes ELONA it was busy but it always is.

Today, being Tuesday, is my day for meeting my oldest buddy for a couple of coffees and then lunch. Always a pleasant few hours and we never run out of things to talk about. Followed by a little wander round town as usual.

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) as always for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. HOLLY I hope this morning everything goes well for you. SNOOZER didn't realise I could pick up M & S orders at a Simply Food store. Ilkley is even nearer for me than Skipton so will bear that in mind. Take care all xx

    Morning All

I didn't have to get up so early this morning but of course I woke up at the usual time. My HT and I are going for a day trip to visit the P7s who are on a residential trip so I'm meeting her locally and she'll drive. It'll be a long day but beats being in the office all day!

Pleased to hear you visited the Maggie's Centre taff, I've heard they are very good.
    Hope your shoulder improves TA.

Looks like the weather could be kind to us today, hope you all see some sunshine. Take care. XX

Good morning, it's a bit grey here this morning . Dry though. Yesterday stayed fine and dry, with a cool wind.

Sorry to hear you've a painful shoulder TA - whats Oriental Rub? I too have had a bad night - at 2am I moved into the spare room so I could read. Slept on and off till my alarm woke me at 7.

I know what you mean about these padded bras - some of them are so gigantic and firm that you don't need boobs. I don't wear underwires now, and it's sometimes hard to get unpadded, and nonwired. Glad you got sorted anyway.

SO, You've had a bad night as well, we're all going to be tired today.

I went to the docs yesterday to get my ears syringed - it went ok, the nurse thinks she'd got it all. When I got home and put my hearing aids in, one of them is not working, so I'm still deaf on one side, not AS deaf though. So that's to sort out today.

Taff you're an early one today, I see you've got a dead zone as well, I've got a dead underarm. Hope your tidying and de cluttering goes well, I like decluttering.

I'll go to tai chi this morning, then do a few jobs round the house. It's the quiz tonight. That's it really.

Hope everyone has as good a day as they can, thinking of the poorlies.

    Take care folks

Morning all, rather damp and grey outside again.

Visting DM yesterday was odd, the ward was in a bit of chaos with the normal routine all gone. Funnily enough it made DM all grumpy! The physio took her to try out 'kitchen' stuff but mistimed it and so brought her back to the ward for lunch. I managed to pick up DM's new dental plate which meant she could eat again.

I'm just hanging about and not being very productive. I don't feel at home here too much so I'm in limbo just now. Of course, I MAY have to face moving in here though.:(

I hope everyone has a happy Tuesday.

It's a strange time for you Gers, you don't know how Mum will cope at home, and she will have to adjust as well.
I can quite understand you feel as if you're in limbo, just waiting to see what happens next

Scarlet, it's odd isn't it? My brain hasn't got rond to thinking it's norma yet. The worst part about it so far is that it itches sometimes but even if I scratch it I can't feel a thing :) Gers, not surprising, because you don't know what's going on yet...Have some cake...and if she's well enough to be grumpy that's a good sign :)

And this mornings wombling success is two wicker chairs, they need a paint or a varnish because they have some sun fading, but a quick spray ad they'll be fine...I went out to get some milk and there they were!
