IKEA Kitchen Price Vs others

We've got a quote of £2800 (excluding appliances & worktop) from IKEA Kitchen, I am wondering if it's worth spending time & efforts to get quotes from other places like Howdens, Wicks, DIY-kitchen...etc?

I really like IKEA's 25 years warranty and their deep internal spacious, but I am equally worry about installation difficulty, and the door choice is a bit limited. We can stretch probably £500 more or so which is about 20% more so wondering if any knows how much price difference between IKEA and other kitchen seller?

Thanks in advance.

    Ikea is way cheaper.

You definitely get more for your money. Installation isn't difficult but it will cost a little more.

DIY kitchens is where you might find the best price comparison. Try putting similar in your basket there.

I would agree with Doozergirl, DIY Kitchens is probably your best bet / comparison to Ikea.

Beware of the supposedly 25 year guarantee. Please read the small print properly. I’m pretty sure it only covers you for faulty manufacture of components and you have to prove it was made incorrectly! And really the only thing you would want the guarantee to cover for the 25 years would be wear and Tear, which it does not cover you for. So I would say their guarantee is effectively worthless.

We bought from Ikea 7 years ago now

Im a competent cook, cooking for home and PT business

I ripped out a solid oak kitchen to fit my Ikea Kitchen

7 years later it loos as good as new.

I had my hob replaced FOC under the warranty two years back when that failed

Fitting really is a piece of cake, me and DH built and installed ours in 2 days

However we were well versed in building Ikea , we just cocked up on the corner cupboard workings but we go there in the end

Our electrician loved it, all the wiring behind the kick boards, he charged us half a day

I'm sure have had good experiences with IKEA kitchens.
Ours however has been terrible. Long story short - they have tried and failed over 4 months to fit our worktop 4 times due to damages and mis measures .not one delivery has been correct or without damages.
Now as it stands they have been so bad they have offered to take the kitchen out and give us a refund.though I'd lose on the supplementary costs
    Id never touch these again.

I have an ikea kitchen. Its excellent. Far cheaper than the quotes from benchmarx and howdens we sought. Quality is just as good, nice deep cupboards.
They are more difficult to fit as no service area at back, so pipes and cables need to be carefully plumbed or backs need to be cut as needed which can be tricky so make sure you are good at it or hire a competent fitter.

Would definitely recommend. quality is excellent.

I would recommend an Ikea kitchen too, we've had ours for probably 10 years and it still looks good. Hubby fitted it himself with no problems apart from a little moan about the backs lol.

Since my post, I've read many good reviews about IKEA kitchen quality but many bad reviews about IKEA kitchen fitter, looks like your fitting experience is one of many, hope your next installation is better.

If you are starting from a clean slate, ie, full kitchen remodel , there is absolutely no need for an Ikea kitchen fitter

By husband is handy, but can he build flat pack? Not a mission. But I can. So I built, he tightened the joints and fixed to the wall

Because we were basically starting from a clean slate, the electrician and plumber were fit to lay pipes and wiring in the correct places before the kitchen was in situ, even that was cheap as DH done the tracking

We then had a granite company come out and template the kitchen and fit that

Seriously, Ikea flat packs are a piece of cake. Be it a wardrobe , a kitchen or a tv unit, they are all the same. Build them correctly and an Ikea kitchen will last

If you go to DIY Kitchens as suggested above then the units arrive already assembled.
I put my kitchen from them in nearly 10 years ago and its as good as new.
  • I just put my order in for an ikea kitchen today. I cancelled the installation as had read too many bad reviews about the installation service. After having severely burned fingers with wren I am not in the market for a 3 year battle about poor fitting.
Anyway after reading many reviews and being pretty good at ikea flatpack I'm going to give this a go at fitting myself. Just wanted to add that my local store (Tottenham) currently has an offer of £100 gift card for every £1000 spend. So today ordered cabinets and some appliances for £4500 and walked away with a gift card for £400. This ends in a few days so check with your local store if still looking to buy.
