Hi, I’m new here and looking for some advice please.
I’m a member of a music forum and have recently started getting unsolicited messages when I’m on that site. I’m on various other music forums, but this is only happening on one of them
They are coming from FACEBOOK and are linked to an offer of £200 from ALDI.
However, they seem to be coming via the MONEY SAVING EXPERT site.
I’m not a member of FACEBOOK, but my wife is and both of our I PADS seemed to be linked somehow.
This ALDI/FACEBBOK garbage is a complete nuisance and I want it to stop, but dont know how.
I cant get out of these pop ups unless I leave the site altogether. But the next time I go back on site, the pop up happens again. Hugely frustrating!!
I’m not very computer savvy I’m afraid, but can anyone make any suggestions.
Thanks

What money saving site have you checked its address .
Facebook is an advertising site pure and simple .0 -
Use a browser with ad blocking and pop up blocking. On my phone I use one called brave.0
-
Thanks to both for your replies.
When the pop up appears, it is coming via MONEY SAVING EXPERT. Here is what I’m receiving.
( actually, this site/forum is not allowing me to post the complete link, which is fine. Here is a shortened version of where it is coming from.)
....eu.moneysavingexpertbroadband.world
It’s says CONGRATULATIONS.
And then gives me the chance to CANCEL. When I try to cancel, it takes me to the next stage anyway !!!
I then cant get out of that without closing the whole thing down, which means leaving the site I want to visit. Frustrating.... oh yes !
I dont know if this crap is coming from FACEBOOK or MONEY SAVING EXPERT, but I want it to stop.
I’m afraid I dont know how to work an ad blocker.0 -
The site you've tried to link to is nothing to do with this website, it's someone using the name to try to confer legitimacy.
As opposed to the cancel button, does the pop up not have the little cross in the corner you can use to shut it down instead?
Try the ad blocker and ask on here if you get stuck setting it up.
For info, if you want to post links as a newbie put up a broken link (with a gal I. It) and someone can correct it for you.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

It's not from MSE and it's probably not from Facebook either. These people try to disguise themselves as something legitimate - eg. a friend or a trusted website.
If you don't have facebook messenger on your ipad then no one can be sending (your wife) messages from it. And they'd need to be friends with your wife to send her messages directly - or you'd get a message from facebook telling you that someone she isn't friends with is requesting to send a message, which you can then decline, and the person blocked.
You must look at the exact difference in the web addresses or you could potentially also get caught out when receiving spam emails or even trying to use what you think is a legitimate website.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
