  • Thank you for that. I'll have a look at both these areas when we next go up.
  • Any more opinions on Great Sutton?? I think that we might have found a house we like but would really love to know a bit more about it.

    Thanks
  • I live on the Wirral 8miles from eport. Dont live in eport itself its mostly a dump. great sutton, whitby is good and nice houses. Widnes warrington is a nightmare with traffic and oneway systems, warring has nice areas but too expensive. any more questions send private message. I have worked in the area for twenty five years.
  • Thanks Kitchen Buff, glad to hear that Great Sutton is not too bad and decent. We also thought about Widnes and Warrington but discounted it because of traffic.
  • No probs let me know where about you are looking and I will give you info on the area. send private message

If you are looking at Warrington, your £200k probably won't buy as much. Houses south of the Ship Canal are more because of an old locality thing, they were always in Cheshire! Lots of new estates going up around Sandymoor in Runcorn & its quite nice. Not sure about schools though.

I would avoid Widnes unless you look at the new estates...a lot of it is quite industrial, as is some of the area along the expressway to the M56 at Preston Brook ICI / chemical factories.

Don't forget Shell Stanlow is quite near to the Frodsham edge of Chester.
  • Shell is quite away from great sutton. Runcorn is a pain in the ar*e on the expressway for traffic. Frodsham is about 15mins away from great sutton, just passed cheshire oaks, go down the road that runs alongside the M56. at junction with M56 take third exit for frodsham and helsby.
  • I know what you mean about Shell. When we looked in Frodsham we found on paper a perfect property (4bed, massive kitchen diner, conservatory, ensuite ...) so we went to look at where about it was and the dream collapsed as the back garden had a lovely views on the big factories and the motorway. Hmmm lovely.

I think Great Sutton will fit the bill as it is close enough to Frodsham for hubby's job, near a town (i know Ellesmere Port is a bit rough but still handy if you have to do paperwork or need a few shops) and hopefully I'll find a decent primary school nearby for the little one.
