Thanks Jwil!
I've had a couple of responses on the tutoring page this evening. Nothing definite as yet. These past few days have been such a contrast to the past few months :-)
And in even better news - I have been paid for my new career for the first time so that money will be trotted down to the bank tomorrow.
It will be an early start in the morning as I'm subbing for someone at a local BNI networking meeting. They do start early, 6:45 but they finish just before the car park starts charging which ensures that no one hangs around too long. The advantage of being an occasional sub is that you don't have to pay the membership, very mse."A thousand candles can be lit from a single candle without shortening the life of that candle."

Time for an update.
Yesterday on the way to the networking I stopped, got out of the car and photographed the sun rising over low level fog - beautiful. Worth getting up at the crack of dawn for.
I paid in money to my business account!!!!!
Then I spent the afternoon volunteering at a local school, introducing the yr11s to apprenticeships.
Finally, I met someone whom I had been put in touch with by a fellow networker. We had just been told that we needed to talk. It turned out that we are practically twins separated at birth! Hope to keep in touch with her.
Today I was at a sales training event in the morning and a decision making processes event in the afternoon. The venue was a community hall where people can rent rooms and apartments to live in and they have communal spaces that can be hired out for business. It almost made me decide to move!
This evening I had a go at redoing one of my facebook ads as it wasn't working and the computer at their end decided that it was not acceptable and refused it. I've had another go so fingers crossed it will go through now.
Normal sense of humour seemed to be lacking this evening - I burnt my dinner while battling with the ad - attempting to reconnect with the lighter side of life.
Night, night everyone :-)"A thousand candles can be lit from a single candle without shortening the life of that candle."

I am doing my planning for next week now. Just broken off to sharpen my pencils and rearrange them...
Have realised how much I did achieve last week. There is a whole pages of successes in my notes and just half a page of things which didn't get done. They didn't get done because: I was over ambitious, I got distracted by other things and I'm still making knee jerk reactions to event. You've probably worked that out before I did!
I haven't got as much money coming in next week as I need yet but have decided not to give up yet. I'm going to push on through with things.
So I am going to aim to sign 10 people onto a group program starting next Saturday. They won't all be paying but I want 10 of them! Instead of looking for 2 new tutees, I am going to aim for 6 new ones. That will be a real challenge as it means messaging people who have liked my FB post and inviting them to connect. Well outside of my comfort zone.
I just broke off the diary writing to commit to doing a FB live post about the challenge.
A blog post has got to be written this week as I have missed the past three weeks and the goal is one per week. Must also do much more on LinkyInny.
I've got a phone call to make soon to my accountability partner and I've also got to post my results in another accountability group.
Still waking up in the night going :eek::eek: so nice to have an hour less in bed last night. Don't think I've ever said that before!:rotfl:"A thousand candles can be lit from a single candle without shortening the life of that candle."

Hi Puddleglum!
You are hurtling along at a rate of knots...well done!
It must be a bit scary as you are at the beginning start of all these things, but if the worst (i.e. going back home to Somerset) doesn't seem all that bad, it's a good boost!
And don't get me started about haircuts...I had one last week and it must have been the first in a year! :eek:Debt: £11,640.02 paid in full! DFD: 30/06/20

Hi PB, thanks for popping by - you've cheered me up no end! You're doing great too!
Yesterday I did two tutoring sessions which has netted me £70. I also sold one place on a group challenge which I'm running, starting on Saturday. I spoke to another person who wanted to do it and gave her my bank details but as yet she hasn't paid.
Discovered that the PayP@l account that I set up back in Sept is indeed a business account so I guess that I will have to give people options of paying direct into my account, cash or cheque as well as PP. it is only £1.68 on a £35 payment but it's £1.68 that they don't have to spend and my coaching clients will be paying a lot more.
At the moment my momentum seems to have run out. I'm seriously considering taking myself off for a walk for a bit as I haven't had any real exercise for some time. It might improve the productivity later.
This evening I'm seeing another prospective tutee and then I'm going to a talk in the evening. It's from the people who want me to spend money and join them. Given that I need to try the product before I say yes, that means a £45 spend for a month (possibly eke it out to 2months) supply.
In other news; the supply agency that I have been signing up for for what seems like months has now told me that they want me to apply for a QTS number before they will give me any work. Sounds reasonable you might think but I qualified as a teacher long before QTS was ever thought of, they have two recent teaching references, they have my teacher ID registration and they will be paying me a pittance compared to what they charge schools for supplying me. I am very tempted to just ignore their request and focus on building up the tutoring in the short term. If I'm successful with NCS then they will pay more per day for more enjoyable work and exam marking money should start coming in by the end of May.
Talking of the end of May - it seems that our PM is running on EverRe@dy batteries at the moment. Maybe I need some of what she's on!:rotfl:"A thousand candles can be lit from a single candle without shortening the life of that candle."

Have just booked haircut, back in Somerset, Friday lunch time. Will have to leave here earlier than intended but it will be waaay cheaper for a wet cut in the South West."A thousand candles can be lit from a single candle without shortening the life of that candle."

Very true! Look after th pennies and all that! Can you set up a personal one as well, although I think you do get charged a bit as well to receive payments, but it might be less than a business account.Puddleglum wrote: »In other news; the supply agency that I have been signing up for for what seems like months has now told me that they want me to apply for a QTS number before they will give me any work. I can't blame you for that, TBH - I would feel the same, particularly as you have a seemingly viable alternative.Puddleglum wrote: »Talking of the end of May - it seems that our PM is running on EverRe@dy batteries at the moment. Maybe I need some of what she's on!:rotfl:

Thanks PB - that's a fantastic image to leave us with!
Hair has been cut and not before time. I had a 1-2-1 conversation with a very elegant financial planner on Thursday and I complimented her on the shear professionalism of herself and her marketing materials. Her response - image is very important - focused my mind a bit.
Today, I hosted my first on line meeting and smartened myself up quite a lot, including make up for the experience. Image is very important you know! Sticking to this is going to be tricky as I'm a jump up and go kind of person.
At the end of the week then I have done 3 tutoring sessions, 1 coaching session and I have 2 paying people on my on line challenge. Lined up for next week I have 7 tutoring sessions, 1 coaching session and 1 free initial consultation. I also have an assessment to work with the National Citizenship Service over the summer.
Next week, I need to push the tutoring on FB again. Will keep doing this periodically until I'm told to stop as it is a fairly easy way to advertise. Also need to try to sign more people up to a new on-line challenge.
Things are definitely better than they were. Fingers crossed that they keep improving!"A thousand candles can be lit from a single candle without shortening the life of that candle."

Ever onwards, ever upwards.
Do you know the Narnia books PB? If I ever go on Mastermind they are going to be my specialist subject. Anyway, in the final book, the children keep going onwards and upwards and your post reminded me of that
This week looks fairly optimistic. I've got some money coming in each day Mon to Fri. Nothing booked for next week. Eeeeeeek! Panics, runs away, calms down and comes back.
Really keeping an eye on the pennies now and wishing slightly that I'd done that a bit more when I had more money! But... If I don't advertise, network, put myself out there no one will know I'm here. A friend suggested that I sign on for UC but I can see them telling me to go back to Somerset and take the sensible route.
Anyway - onwards and upwards. Planning needed and breakfast."A thousand candles can be lit from a single candle without shortening the life of that candle."
