Thanks for replying. Apologies for not making myself clear. I've paid off the debt, but wasn't sure if I could claim back the PPI if I had been on a repayment plan woth them.
If you were put on a debt repayment plan then the likelihood is that Very will have written off interest and other charges. So note that if you do complain about PPI you may have had and are successful, any redress awarded will then be offset against those monies you failed to pay,
  • If I was you I would ask someone who knows about how debt repayment works and ppi .The fact you obviously couldn't use the policy when you got into financial difficulty ? And also was the account ever suitable , sometimes these companies extended so much credit without little or any knowledge of a customers financial circumstances, this would mean they assisted in getting you into debt .I would look up plevin rule and see if any of this applies to you . I feel when people ask advice on this website people respond like they are 100% accurate , this can be misleading especially in sensitive issues involving debt .we are all aware of the impact this has on people so always seek professional advice .Citizens advice is a free service they have specialised people who can assist you and offer support without judgement .

Why would a PPI policy cover general financial difficulty?
PPI covered periods of sickness and unemployment and would not pay out if the OP was struggling to pay for other reasons.
Why does the OP need to look up the Plevin Rule? This will only apply if a PPI complaint (which the OP has not yet made) is rejected and will still be subject to offset.

As to a complaint about irresponsible lending, that's something entirely off topic...
