Thanks guys
I'll get the new thread up over the weekend, probably Sunday evening.
If you'd like a buddy, have a think about -
* what skill you'd have to offer to another member,
* something you'd like to learn/include yourself this time around
It would be fab if everyone buddied up, it could be as simple as dropping a PM of support to your buddy! No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
Id be no good as a buddy, dont have a great deal Im good at
my main advantage to my challenge is that I got accepted with consumer pulse so thats an easy £10 every 6 weeks or so!
note to self: make sure you take note of where the money came from next timewhat with my holiday and family events that followed I lost track a bit! Next time I promise to record everything!!!!
finally debt free and want to keep it that way!!0 -
Of course you would fdf , you're around a lot, you'd be a great motivator.
I need to learn Pigsback for this challenge, I just don't get it! I can help with matched betting (basic) or ... erm, gawd it is hard to think about. No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
Pigsback has got me around £30 in the last year, without ever purchasing anything through them! If I had the motivation to enter the daily competitions I suppose I would have stood a chance of getting a few more piggy points!!finally debt free and want to keep it that way!!0

Well it's the end of the challenge and I failed - oops! But I do have £518.56 more than I would have done otherwise so it's still good and starting a new job at the start of August which is a lot more involved than the temping I was doing last time hasn't given much opportunity for other things.
Anyway here's my summary:
Mystery Shopping £108.62
Holiday Pay £104.38
Amazon £71.32
Complaints £52.00
Ebay £46.83
Small Ads £30.50
Rpoints £25.70
Mutualpoints £20.00
Cashbag £15.00
Interest £14.44
Green Met £11.37
Psych Exp £6.00
Ciao £5.13
Health Econ Exp £5.00
Money Found £1.86
Voucher change £0.41
Total £518.56
I thought I'd done rubbish on Amazon but that's not too bad, I now work too far away from the Psychology dept to pop over and do experiments at lunch but I did manage to cash in money with rpoints, cashbag, mutualpoints and ciao. I've had vouchers from other sites too but I tend to use these to treat myself so as they're not replacing things I would have bought normally (like a present) I don't count them.
For this time I started Quidco and have £1.18 paid out ready for the next payout (they've taken the £5) and I've got another £15 tracking (only really used for shopping atm) and Lighspeed and have £5 on the way from them.
I'm meeting some more people next week at work to sell some more things and then with the £5 from Lightspeed and MS money at the end of next week I'm going to keep counting things in an 'interim' challenge spreadsheet and then start over again on 8th January!
Gemmzie I'm really looking forward to starting again. I'm not sure what I'd like to try next time so don't feel I really need a buddy but a list of 'experts' people who feel they're very good at a particular thing and would happily help someone over pm might be nice but if people want buddies that's fine - whatever work's for people.
and next time I'm going for £2000  well in for a penny in for a pound ....Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000
Initial Mortgage free date - January 2058
Mortgage as of 1st February 2024 - £159,134.98
Overpayments to date - £79.62
Current Mortgage free date - January 20580 -
Gemmzie - I'm glad you're going to do another Olympic Challenge. I think the fact that another thread has taken up the concept is a huge compliment to your original idea, and also testimony to how big the dfw community has grown - its not really possible for everyone to be reading the same diaries, on at the same time to enable those funny little interchanges we all love to read (and take part in when we can!).
Yorkielass - thanks for posting! Since the challenge was officially over yesterday, I'm just off to add everything up, and I'll be back soon....2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Oops. Okay, my numbers don't add up. My week by week total come to £674.06. Which - hurray  _party_ _party_ excellent. But when I put it into subtotals, I only get £620. I have no idea which is right.
and what's more I'm not going to sit here all day and work it out! This is the problem with not doing a spreadsheet, and with writing untidily on a piece of paper bluetacked to the wall. So I will not do that next time! For what its worth, these are the figures: they're roughly right, but not completely, but they show the general sway of things. There's also more money to come: from Amazon, greasy palm, quidco, zoom, you gov, valued opinions, TCB when I get round to it, and I *still* don't know what WH SMith points I've got, tho I only renewed my card because of this challenge, and I have a £2 freebie if I spend £5, which expires at the end of this month (discounted Christmas cards, anyone?). So, here's the general list:
34 change jar
105 set aside from weekly money
63 taxis not taken
11 selling science fiction magazines
35 amazon sales
27 Tesco vouchers (face value, not deals)
15 Innova, payment for switching
4 Borders book voucher
136 mystery shopping
10 found in a book!
4 interest on dfw account
10 seminar voucher
72 Virgin/ss thing
15 lightspeed
17 Boots points to spend
1 refund from newsagent
14 ciao
20 pigsback
15 Nectar
12 hmv voucher from Toluna.
Really chuffed at this, its much better than last time. If I can carry on with the "more to come" as above, plus matched betting, I'll be quids in come the next one.
Sorry for the long post!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
