Life insurance declined for recreational drugs

Hi here!
I'm 39 and the main source of income of our household, with a child, so I was thinking about applying for a life insurance. We don't have a mortgage as we rent.
I looked for quotes on an insurance comparator, filled everything in, and as I'm a n honest guy, I admitted that I sometimes do recreational drugs like cocaine or MDMA during parties, something like 4 times a year, maybe. I have no other medical issues. I picked a plan, and it was declined, specifically because of drugs use. The advisor at the comparator told me to re-apply in 5 years, implying I shouldn't use drugs the next 5 years...
What are my options?

Options???
Don't do drugs!0 -
Sorry but you've got absolutely no chance of getting life insurance if you regularly do something that could easily kill you!0

I think you’re being too honest. Asking if you take recreational drugs is them trying to weed out people who taken them regularly or are addicts etc with all the associated risks. 4 times a year doesn’t seem significant to me.
I would speak to a broker. There might be an issue since you’ve already declared this. I know this sort of thing has been flagged up with car insurance where people have later changed details on comparison sites but I’m not sure about life insurance.0 -

That's the kind of answers I expected, thank you. I bet the insurance provider has logged my application somewhere and I shouldn't try to apply somewhere else with other details, right?
I'll see with a broker then.
For the other members telling me what to do with my life, please limit yourself to the technicality of my question.0 -
Well you are not going to get one that covers the drugs, however it should not be to hard to get one that excludes them.0

fair play to op for being honest,
we got people on here who 'forgot' their driving license points on buying car insurance and later have their insurance cancelled or refuse to cover an accident they were in involved
Op get a broker to see what other options are available"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

Unfortunately, you are highly unlikely to get cover if you have used drugs in the last 3-years. Many providers won't touch you if you've used any drugs in the last 5-years, some increase premiums if it's within the last 10. No mainstream insurer will provide "normal" life insurance if you are still a user, even if only intermittently.0
